~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

BeeBee(Ship12 Div/072) and Lovely Navy Lady , I honestly and truly appreciate the information you have given me......I'm so worried about the glitter issue and since yesterday I've been praying so that my son calls me before he gets it!! I will advise him not to open it or to open it outside near a trash can.
Thank you guys .....I'm so glad I found this site and most of all thankful for ALL THE SUPPORT!!

Msmom, thank you for your prompt response....I was so worried because there were days where I even sent 2 to 3 letters a day and family members also sent cards.
Once again, thank you!!

VBS (Vibrating Bra Syndrome) is the best diannep! If your phone rings excuse yourself to answer it and say you have VBS. Those around you will either ask what it is and get a good laugh out of it, those who don't ask will go home, google it and still wonder.

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve Eve!!

I got the best Christmas present on Friday. My sailor son, who I haven't seen since April and was not expecting home this Christmas, walked in my front door.  .

So, I sent 4 large manila envelopes full of cards from students (over 100) to my SR.  Had to use BIG envelopes, the kids were very crafty, no glitter!  They were addressed to my SR with the school return address on the label.  I also wrote Christmas Cards on the envelope with 1 of 4, 2 of 4 etc.  I hope these get to my SR so that she can hand them out.  I told her to watch for them during our call the other night.  Anyone have any idea whether she will receive these?  Also, with tomorrow now a federal holiday, will our SR's have another hold day?

I totally agree with BeeBee's post about the Christmas calls.  If you get a call anywhere within a few days of Christmas from your SRs, it is doubtful that they will get to call again on Christmas Day.  So keep the phones close by....in the bra is a good place, on vibrate!

tchon:  I too hope your pup is ok!  Dog lover here...and I have a grandpup as well (no grandchildren).  But I think my grandpup is now permanently here with me once my son moves out...sigh....3 dogs....1 more and I'm at my allowed limit in my county!  :-)

tchon6891 Merry Christmas to you too! I hope the puppy is better soon.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and wish them a Merry Christmas. Things have been busy here at work and getting ready for out of state company to visit. My granddog (yes a puppy, no actually grand children) has an injured leg and we need to take her to the vet today. Poor pug puppy...Have a safe and grand Holiday Season everyone. A month to go!!!! Hope to get a call soon.

Kathy. I'm sorry you missed your SRs call. I'm hoping for a Christmas call as well. Just not sure it will happen for us, especially since they just got to call. Some of the other divisions may get calls in the next few days since it will be time for their three week call. But the veteran moms have said there are not enough phone banks to everyone make calls on Christmas. I counted my call yesterday a very wonderful early Christmas present. I pray there is a good reason your SR gets to make another call soon.

DM. Your SR started getting your letters this week. They wrote that letter to you on Sunday and probably started getting your letters on Monday or Tuesday and will probably get a big stack at once. Letters are taking at least a week to get to RTC. Glitter cards in themselves won't get them a hit (a bad mark or point off on an inspection) it is when the glitter gets on their clothes, bunk or the floor and it is discovered during an inspection that it is a problem. Once glitter flakes off it is very hard to clean up. It is hard to buy Christmas cards without glitter these days so I'm sure it is not the only card sent. It will be OK. They'll just get more practice cleaning.
