Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello everyone, it's such a relief to know that I'm not alone! Does anyone know if they will forward my letters to my son, I received his first written letter where he states that he is no longer in Ship 14 but has now moved to Ship 03, I'm sad and I cried because it seems he hasn't gotten any of my letters and I've been writing everyday since I got the 1st. letter with all the important info. ? I feel so bad because he asked me in his letter to pls write... :-(
I truly appreciate any info. , Thank you and Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Hi all,  Darn.. I went out for a run and missed a call from my son.  My husband was here and got the call though.   Says it was a quick call - about 5 minutes.  He sounds good and all is well.  Still loves the food.   Wonder what that says about my cooking here.....lol  He told us he thinks he might get to call on Christmas.  No going for  run that day....K

So happy to have you back Betsy and that is great news that your daughter and grandbaby are going to be fine :) That must have been very scary.

Comment by diannep on December 21, 2012 at 8:07pm

kimmie:  They hold the mail from them until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained for their division.  I agree with Bee Bee.  He probably has received your letters now.

From what I can tell it is taking seven days for my letters to reach my SR. So there was a delay were he could write two Sundays before he got any of my letters. He probably got your letters this week.
Comment by kimmie16 on December 21, 2012 at 3:58pm

I sent his first letter the day I received his form letter with his address.  Not sure why he hasn't received anything yet.
