Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hoping to get a letter this week. That would be the best Christmas gift... no wait... to hear his voice would be. I am just afraid I will miss a call as I dont carry my cell phone at work. I work around a lot of water and am afraid of getting it wet (bathing dogs) My boss did go get me a rubber smock to help keep dry, maybe I will start putting my phone in my pocket and hope I feel it vibrate, it is so loud in there I would never hear it ring.

Phabion's mom, that is so cute. Glad he had enough time for the short note. It is amazing how just a few words can put such a big smile on your face :-D

I love the new pic at the top of the group pages with all the Christmas lights. It looks so pretty :) I hope everyone is having a great day.

...by answering all calls, I mean even if you think it could be a solicitor!  Just get rid of him/her/robot fast!  :-)

Hotel info actually is in brochure that accompanies the form letter.

No,knappi.  The number does not always come up as restricted. It usually comes up as 847 and pay phone when they are making their personal calls.  It could also come up US GOV when an official call (your SR needs info, Navy personnel with him) or ---rarely but has happened---from another Chicago area code.  But we suggest that all calls be answered while you have someone at bootcamp... just so you don't miss anything....

Good Hotels in the area:

Navy Lodge (1.5 miles from base, but no PIR shuttle so you need to drive to PIR or use Sarge's transportation service)----reasonable rates, book in your SR's name and tell them you are there for graduation:

Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn....all close to each other...close to Sarge's MeetandGreet....all have PIR shuttle....Residence has larger suites (2/2 w/full kitchens, plus studios---we stayed there and liked it alot). There are lots of hotels in the area....I actually found ours by googling hotels in the Great Lakes area but you should have hotel info your form letter too.
