Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

AMEN, Phabion'sMom!

Good Morning Everyone!

This PIR group should be in Training Week 2.  The training weeks start after processing days are over.  The lowest numbered divisions are the furthest in training, but only by a couple of days.  Remember, there are 6 Training Weeks.  They become sailors at the end of Training Week 6.  Depending on what division they are in, they will have anywhere from 1 to 7 days after BattleStations (final test when they become sailors) before PIR.  Bootcamp for PIR groups at this time of year is a few days longer than average because of the holidays...which back their training up one day per holiday.  No worries....they will keep their 01/25 PIR date!

They are moving along and that "special day" will be here before you know it!

HI EVERYONE,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND REMEMBER THAT JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 17, 2012 at 8:04pm

I hope everyone is having a good day :) I know it has been a crazy weekend and a very sad one as well adn if you are like me you stepped away from the computer for a while and spent some extra time with your family. Our daughter from college came home for the Christmas/winter break and we were so happy to have her home again. Our Sailors will be home this weekend and we are super excited to have them home for Christmas for the first time in two years (3rd Christmas) I have noticed that most of the groups on this site have been really slow for the last few days and I am betting that many of you are busy getting ready for Christmas or celebrating the holidays with your families. :)

I agree with Dianne, please stay here on this group as well. There will be some members here who don't "do" facebook and you will want to connect with them. Plus there is a wealth of information on these pages. So get ready to be active on both lol. I am on both this page and facebook so I will see you in both places, although I may not know who you are with real names vs screen names lol.

*allow you.....

If any head over to FB groups, please stay on here too since we will be adding lots of good info as you get closer to PIR!

Some travel info:

Hotel bookings can be made whenever since cancelling them is easy...usually up until the day before or day of arrival.  So go ahead and book when you decide where you want to stay.  On flights, You can wait a little while, but be checking prices to make sure they aren't going up!  Booking Southwest into Milwaukee or Chicago-Midway would allow out to change reservations if you need to with no change fee (but difference in fare is charged).  Also, 2 bags check for free.   Midway is the furthest from GL....an hour in decent traffic, but could be longer if bad Chicago traffic.  Milwaukee is about 45 minutes, no traffic, car rental usually cheaper.

No care packages allowed, knappi.  Only cards.

Comment by knappi on December 17, 2012 at 3:59pm

Can our sailors only receive cards for the holiday or can they receive a care package?

hi kimmie16 - our sailors are together for their boot camp experience. My sailor will be going to Mississippi afterwards, so this is great information as i was going to make arrangements to fly home on Saturday.

Comment by kimmie16 on December 17, 2012 at 10:31am

Thanks for the info.  My sailor will be going to San Antonio.  We plan on staying until Sunday (just in case).  Well, at least I know he will have his "new family" with him for Christmas!
