N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

That is good to know about the restaurant for the sailors, ellen.  Thanks!

Congrats on the phone calls today!

Dau3NavyNuke:  Go to "Settings" top right corner of page  (under your username).  Click.  Then select EMAILS on the right....you can check and uncheck what you want.  We N4Moms veterans have most unchecked since we are on 6-8 PIR groups at a time and would go crazy!  We find it easier just to check into the pages when we can.

By the way, no question is dumb....so ask anything you like!  Took me a while to figure out this site....so just ask if you have more questions!

Sailor,

How long has your hubby been in BC and what time did he call?

Comment by MYSAILORSCOOPS0525 on December 12, 2012 at 9:10pm
I got to talk to my husband for 6 mins!! I received a phonecall from an 847 area code and it was him!! I cried immediately upon hearing his voice...someone screwed up his ppwk and I have to fax some documents...he sounds great and is doing well thank god...I can't even begin to explain how I feel right now!

I miss my son so much right now but my pride spills from eyes and I realize that this is a great step towards his future in the US Navy.  I feel selfish when I get lonely or wish he was sitting here talking about what he wants to do with his life but he made this decision on his own and that is what makes me so happy.  I can't wait to be there and see the man he has become and the young men and women who have shared his experience at boot camp.

diannep , Yes Sarge does have a friend that owns a restaurant it is called Trattoria Pomigliano and it is great. You probably do need to make a reservation and allow plenty of time to enjoy it. Great place to eat and your sailor will eat free, I would highly recommend it.

My family and I have a suite at Springhill as does my son's GF. We'll probably be going to Sarge's meet & greet after reading on it here. We were initially going to Flanagan's.

@navymom9999 my sons recruiter told me his address was ship 3 div 076 but his letter said ship 14
Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 12, 2012 at 5:26pm

NavyMom9999, it sounds like he may have been in such a hurry that he just forgot to write the 4, lol.  I'm sure if you write to him and put his the correct division on the letter, the letters will get to him.  It may just take a little longer.  Once you get an actual letter from him, he should have the correct ship and division in the return address.  The ship is the number of the building that they live in and they do have more than one division in the buildings.
