~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi there

Does anyone know if Flannigans meet and greet is close to Navy Lodge?  I suppose the shuttle can get us anywhere but was curious.  Also, it says a $10 voucher for your Grad but the kids don't get leave until Friday, confused on that part. thoughts?

Comment by dana on December 12, 2012 at 11:11am
I think we are going to take the shuttle also (Residence Inn)...even though we have a rental car...I thinks it's less of a hassle...hopefully! What meet and greet is everyone going to?

Ducky, as diannep said, if she needs too, she will definetely call again.  I would go with the thought that since she didn't leave a message, the call is probably just a need info call again.  Just remember "No News Is Good News" and if she didn't leave a message, that is most likely the case.

Lala, ((Hugs)) I hope the bug stays away.
We also took the shuttle and really liked it.  We took the earliest one out from our hotel, (Residence Inn) which I think left the hotel around 6:15a.m. or 6:30a.m.   We were one of the first people to be seated in the hall when they opened the inside doors of the Hall at 7:00a.m.  Our son's graduation was in Dec., so it was nice that we arrived early enough that we were able to stand inside the warm hallway while waiting for them to open the doors to the Hall.

Cincin:  We took the shuttle and it was great.  Usually the sailor returns for free on it.  But others have taken their cars and liked that.  If you go by car, you need to be in the car line much earlier than when leaving on a shuttle, and of course have the "gate pass" which you will be able to download on the RTC site 11 days before PIR.  Some also park at the train station (next door), paid parking, if they plan to take the train into Chicago after PIR...Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Ramada....all have shuttle service.  There are other hotels that do too.  And Sarge offers shuttle service as well.  The shuttle service that is offered to the hotels is actually taxis operating as shuttles that morning.  $3/pp each way.

Ducky:  Could have been a "need info" call in which case, they are not allowed to leave a message (supervised call).  She will call again if she still needs it.

Good Morning All!

I missed a call from my SR last night!  I was out with my family at church and did not have my phone on.  She's been gone for a little over two weeks and she tried 5 times over a 10 minute period.  I feel terrible!  I am hoping she's not sick or having trouble.....it seems early for her to call from what I've read from everyone else.  When she made a business call before, it was before 5:00CST, this was at 8:15 CST......

Comment by Cincin25 Ship 12/Div 071 on December 12, 2012 at 6:08am

Good Morning. Regarding hotels is it best to go with a one that offers a shuttle to the graduation and the my sailor can come back on that or to bring a car ? Help I can't make a decision of where to stay..Thank you.....

2 weeks today that my son has been gone....Bittersweet..........

Thanks Ellen0502, our plans are to stay until Sunday. Want to spend as much time as we can. His birthday is on Friday the this will be the 1st birthday we have ever has apart!!

Comment by diannep on December 11, 2012 at 11:33pm

Cincin;  If possible, stay until Sunday.  Even if your sailor is to leave on Sat., plans for them can change.  So best to stay until Sunday if at all possible.

dana:  We stayed at Residence and liked it very much!
