OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning everyone!! Two more days, can't wait.  Can't even think straight, hopefully I got everything packed!!!  Will be at the Meet and Greet with Sarge, hope to meet you all.  Good health and safe travels to all!!!

I spoke with my nephew's brother-in-law who is a Navy Diver and stationed in California. He said that those comments are usually made for purposes of streamlining the departure process. Going to the airport is a definite for us.

Good Morning Everyone. Has anybody from ship 12 Div 071 received I'm a sailor call yet? Thank you and Safe Travels for everyone......

Buzyw2. If you are coming to graduation. Why won't you see your SR afterwards? For pictures you can go to the NEX photo lab and pick the pictures up or if you don't want to wait you can pick up a form but if your SR wants the keel (yearbook) it has to be ordered and paid for on graduation day. But ask your SR they may have already ordered and possibly even paid for the pictures. If they have they will have the pictures before graduation.

Good morning everyone. Two more days!!!

My SR is going to SA for A School.  No word from her re: flight out from GL.  We were planning on at least meeting her at the airport if but only for a moment but understand if that's not possible.  Since we won't be seeing her after PIR we hoped to at the least get her her laptop (in a Navy approved backpack) otherwise we'll be spending a TON of $ to ship it to her (not that I'm cheap but ...)  We'll be at Sarge's for MnG about 1830 or 1900 on Thurs and hope to see some of you there.
I'm reading through messages and don't see a link to a form for pictures.  Any further info on this is appreciated.
Thanks!  :)

Thanks diannep for checking! Maybe he meant he carried that flag?? Kadie 1..I too hope thats not true because if possible I had to plan on meeting my SR at the airport if time allows.

@kadie1  I have not heard this.  I plan on meeting my SR at the airport.  It might only be for a few hours but I will be there.

Received a call form my son this evening. He will be leaving for the airport first thing on Saturday. He departs Great Lakes at 12:30 am and his flight leave for San Antonio ( MAA school) at 5:00 am. He was told today that parents/family are discouraged from meeting them at the airport to say goodbye. Having a hard time with this. He did tell me that he was just delivering the message. he could not stop me from doing what I needed to do. While I may not like this direction from his superiors, I would never place him in a difficult position with them. My question - is this a standard message to sailors? Is anyone getting the same message?

BeeBee:  No problem!  I appreciate any prayers for Brett.  He has a long road ahead of him but will get there!  Thanks so much!

BeeBee:  Thanks for the info on the photo lab closing at 3:30.  Didn't know that.  And, yes, correct on ordering The Keel.  I waited until the week after PIR ... too late.  If your sailors order Pkg A of the pictures, The Keel is included...for free.

Tnnavymom:  This is all I could find on guidons!

http://www.guidon.net/military_guidons/navy_guidons.php

miss:  If your SR/sailor ordered shirts, they must be the division tshirts?  Usually the sailors have them ready to give to you after PIR...unless they arranged to have them sent directly to you.  I know the NEX has some, but usually from those SRs who were asmoed or discharged and no longer needed them, so they don't have many.
