N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My aunt and uncle live about 10 miles from GL, so we are staying with them.  So thankful to be saving money and staying with family:)

Hi all.  I am new to this site.  Just got my Box and letter this week.   My son is Ship 12, Div 072 .  Looking forward to Jan. 25th.   Question>   On the form letter it indicates that he has put me down on his graduation list of guests.... but, he has put name name down as Kathy (what I go by) rather than Kathryn (what really is on my ID).  Plus my last name is hyphenated and he has only put down the second half of my hyphenated last name.   Is this going to cause a problem?  Thanks.

Kkuberry and Cincin25, my son is also Ship 12 Div 071, so our kids are all together!  I can't wait for January 25th:)

Is it worth renting a car for PIR?

Thanks.

My son is in Ship 12 Div 072.

Regarding the meet and greet is there one place better then another?  What's close by to do with your sailor since they do have to be back to base that nite.? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info diannep, I do appreciate it.  Any idea which airport is the better one to fly into?

Comment by diannep on December 8, 2012 at 10:57pm

Cincin:  Yes, they get to update their guest list about a week before PIR.  Be sure to write them with exact names (must match ID) that should be on the list!

Hi kkuberry my son is also Ship 12 Div 071. Now to make the plans. Does anybody know if they can change the names they put down for guests?  Did anybody get to watch the Navy/Army game. It was awesome, my heart went out to the army boy. :(
