Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on December 8, 2012 at 5:34pm: Ducky: You can only send to the other divisions if you can address the large envelope to a particular SR in that division. You can post on here to see if anyone would like to private message you their SR's name/contact info in that division to send some student letters (in large envelope) to that division in care of that SR.

Yesterday we finally received his form letter with ship info/PIR date. Although his recruiter had already given us this information last week. Still waiting for his first written letter. Will be booking our hotel this weekend too.

Thanks! I am just asking teachers to have kids use Seaman Recruit in their salutation. Can I also send to other divisions when I have extras?

She can have the students include the school's/classroom's return address on their individual letters because some of the SRs will write back!

They need to be sent to your SR because they will not deliver letters individually addressed to just a Seaman Recruit. There has to be a name on it. So be sure to send the big envelopes with your SR's name/address on them. She is allowed to pass them out!

I am collecting letters from the classes at my school. I am not giving out the address, just having the kids address their letters to "seaman recruit". I am trying to get enough Christmas notes, letters and cards to send to my SR to give out to her Division. I will be putting all of them into one or two manila envelopes and sending them to her division. What I need to know is whether I can send the in C/O of her.
