Here's a quick rundown of both Meet and Greets:
Sarge:
5-10 pm at the Sundance Saloon.
FREE transportation from Springhill Suites, Marriot Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Candlewood Suites and Crossland. All other local hotels for a modest fee.
Guest Speaker from the Base to provide info on where to eat, things to do, how to save $$.
FREE food starting at 7 PM….they also have a menu if you want to order something.
Sarge has lived in the area for over 30 years and knows it well.
Sarge has arranged with his friend Nick at Trattoria-Pomigliano in Libertyville for a FREE meal – ANYTHING they want – for your Sailor.
There is a DJ.
Plus, Sarge goes above and beyond the “call of duty” to help Sailors and their families. (He is the “go to” guy for Taxi (shuttle) service. Prices are great and again does more than he has too!)
Ramada:
6-8 pm at the Ramada.
Finger foods – Chips and salsa, veggies and dip, egg rolls, meatballs, maybe another and it could change. (This is what they had when I went. Sarge was not doing a Meet and Greet then)
Bar – or you can bring in your own soft drink or water. Those staying at the Ramada get a voucher for to free drinks.
Hostess provides a name tag and will come in and greet everyone and ask if anyone would like to speak.
BOTH events are open to everyone. There will be people there that know nothing about N4M’s. Invite them!
Just added your MEET and GREET's up in the "Welcome" box...also your ountdown clock and weather...it is for Waukegan which is very close to RTC. No Great Lakes :-(...but it is from the National Weather Bureau and it is interactive! Play with it...just move your cursor over the header and click and it will go to that time etc

You do not (and will not receive) need any tickets for PIR. Your Sailor will finalize the access list about a week before PIR. They must use the name that matches the individuals Govt. ID. They are allowed to put up to four people on the list and those people are guaranteed entry. You may bring extra to PIR and they will wait in the Visitor Center (USS Yorktown, annexed to Midway Hall) until RTC allows them in if there is room. It is rare for there not to be room from what I have read.
Here is an excerpt from RTC website FAQ's:
Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum. The graduating recruit is responsible for identifying those individuals to be placed on the access list. Please coordinate with your recruit via letters regarding who will be on the access list. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed. PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS. All visitors must have valid photo identification. This requirement includes children (school ID, Social Security card or copy of birth certificate). Please be aware that security may deny base admission to guests NOT on the access list if they are not accompanied by a guest who is on the access list.
Just families, no Sailors that are in boot camp will be there.
Do our SR's get to go to the meet and greets prior to graduation, or is that just for families?
Hello All,
My hubby is Ship 12 Division 049. I have been missing him like crazy! I was able to get a call from him last week and he told me not to plan anything for the graduation weekend, because he will only have that one day. He must know some information already about when he leaves for A School in Dam Neck, Virginia. He didn't give me any flight info though, so maybe he has just been warned not to plan anything?
He said that he had been up there, then only 10 days, doing nothing but waiting around. He said that processing didn't take that long, so he has too much time to think about what he must be missing while away. He was pretty emotional, which is not typical for him, so I am learning how to be the "strong" one.
We were wanting an 8 week boot camp, but it is going to be closer to 10. January 27th finds us only 10 days from my due date with little boy #3. My husband, Daddy, is so precious to us and we are all proud of him!
OH, and don't read anything. maybe that's what she's concerned about, too.
so, JudyAnn and the box.... :) When my son got his contract it was for HM(FMF). fleet marine force. He thought I'd be more upset than i was (cried privately. lol) so he kept dodging showing me the contract. I was Navy, so it was the first thing I asked for. (he was 19, graduated, in college with a job, so it wasn't like he was 17 or anything) finally I just snuck it out of his backpack, read it and put it back. He told me two days later.
She might have a something in the box she thinks will offend you, maybe something she forgot about. Kids don't realize WE'RE resilient, too! LOL
