I'm feeling better, today. Thanks for all the encouragement. He has written to me and his siblings (and his grandmother!) so I'm giving him props for that! :) I'll mention to him how I miss talking to him and I hope he calls! He prob has no idea I even know when he calls through you guys or the "grapevine". :) thank you guys! you made me feel so much better. see you very soon!
Well said diannep! I have never heard another person say it like that (other than myself) I have always given thanks to God for the loan of such beautiful children that he chose me to raise. I have often told my children, you are not mine, you are a gift from God, it helps me to (try) to keep perspective. When I write my SR I always tell her to keep God in all decisions and she will be fine.
SN- getting so excited.. count down is 18 days to see that beautiful smile... My heart overloads just thinking about it!
"Reagan" not "Reagon!"
CoMom: I saw part of the USS Ronald Reagon show last night too (happened upon it). Wow...I wish I had seen the whole thing. Very interesting. My son is connected to a carrier also, but it is in dry dock right now. He did take a short sail on another carrier for experience. They are truly like their own cities! They carry between 5,000 and 6,000 sailors. Can you imagine?
Momma2many: So sad when the gfs/fiances get the only calls...I see this on so many groups. One wonderful gf posted that she would "three way" his mom when he called her so that his mom was included in the conversation. God Bless that girl! Hoping that the next call is YOURS! I know the feeling...my son chose to spend his liberty weeks in 2011 with his gf/fiance (out of state)...I finally had to fly up to see him at Thanksgiving since I hadn't seen him since Christmas. He was home for a week at Christmas so that was good! He is good about staying in touch with me, so I understood that he wanted to use liberty time for her...doesn't mean it is easy, but understandable!
kaitysmom: My take on our children is that they are all God's children, "on loan" to us...so we treasure our moments with them and our responsibilites to them...and the trust that our Lord gave us in "lending" them to us. With His help, we can get through anything, right?
Good morning, everyone!
And...Lala...there oughta be a law against those raging male hormones! UGH!
momma2many - I was feeling like I was losing my adult children too. My two kids are grown and they are now they are living in the adult world and I'll be taking a backseat and won't be my son or daughter's number one priority anymore...and I think that is how it should be. I KNOW they still love me and I will always have that place in their hearts, but they have to grow up. I'm certain that your son loves you and you are very important to him. I suspect that he is having to make some hard choices with the little time that he has. My friend sent me this piece from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and I found it helpful, and maybe it might help you too: "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; for even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable." I think you have raised a "straight arrow" that is strong and is flying far and you are the stable bow! Only a couple more weeks and you'll be hugging him!!! Wow...I've written a book here :-) You're pain just touched me and I hope I've helped. Big hug!
yep, Mom comes first, or should come first right? well at least in Mom's eyes lol. moma2many I hope he calls soon, must be those crazy male hormones interfering. I hope he he realizes he need his mom too and makes that call. No one loves you like your mom loves you.
mommatomany when my sr called home he told me he wanted to call this girl and I totally had no problem with it however, I took so long telling him bye that he didn't get to call her and I felt like the meanest person I have worried about that ever since. I haven't met her but she seems very sweet she willl text me every time she gets a letter. But he knows had he not called home first oh I just can't even imagine what I would do to him,. ((hugs))!
Watched a show about the USS Ronald Reagan on NATGEO, it was very cool. It's so AMAZING how big those ships are!
momma2many- I would be sad too. It would have been nice to get a short call and then one to the girlfriend..That would have eased your mind a bit. Not knowing anything is the absolute worst part..I am thinking of you:)
