Thank you so much for your help! His Rate is Advanced Electronics/ Computer Field (AECF), and he will be staying in Great Lakes for A school.

Mantha4- I am not sure exactly how long it will be but I don't think it is long at all. But of course even just one week will seem like an eternity. I know that A-school has to be at least 6 months in order for you to be able to move to him and get housing so you definitely have that covered. I think it is mostly about getting all the proper paper work taken care of but I will ask some of my friends on facebook who have been through this and see how it worked for them. What  is your husbands rating and where is A-school?

Good Morning, everyone!  Hope all have a good day and that there are some letters in those mailboxes!  Don't hurt the mail carrier please....  :-)

mantha4 - You might try searching for the group that pertains to your husbands "A" school.

Here is a link to search for groups by ratings and it also has "A"schools:

GROUPS: LISTED BY RATINGS (JOB)

Also, here is another group started by a young lady that was in my PIR group

...AND I bet LaLa RIbbon Queen can help with this one a bit too!

So I've been trying like crazy to find info but have had very little success. My husband goes to A school for 24 months. It's my understanding that I'll be allowed to move to him. But does anyone know when? I understand there are strict restrictions after boot camp and what liberties they have. I had read some stuff about passing phases in order to gain liberties. The info I'm finding doesn't pertain to those who are married with children or those who have long A school time. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

FTLW, WOW! My hubby was in Qatar and Saudi prior to that. They were NOT fun days. Watching the tv was awful but I was glued. I sat and embroidered a quilt each night while watching the news. Thank God the soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines are coming home now.

Sorry I've been a bit MIA...after Christmas Blues I think!

LaLa...I am glad your Sailor made it home and I hope you are enjoying your time with her!

navywife11 - YAY, YAY,YAY on the phone call and to the recruit who gave it to your hubby! So glad you got that boost...I know what it's like to have your hubby gone...especially with young ones! This time last year DH was on his way to Iraq. 10 years ago SAME time he was on his way to Qatar. 6 month deployments each time. We had much more regular phone time this last one as he was stuck on a base for 6 months...but he was very busy and there were some times where I would not get my "regular" call. Ladies...I had my cell phine glued to me for SIX MONTHS (Seabee son went through BC while hubby was in Iraq),,,I went through one of my sons dentist appointments while on the phone with hubby...felt kinda rude but they were very kind and understood! Hey the guy walked through a sandstorm across the base to call me!

I can't believe it's been a year...

Well I am on facebook and on here and I have never heard of a place to change the names. As far as I have ever heard only your recruit can change the list like Diannep said. However, I will tell you this. When we went to PIR my husband was on the list and was unable to go at the last minute. My father (Sailors grandpa) went in his place to surprise her. When we got to the place in line to check in we told them that "that" one person wasn't able to come and "this" person came instead. They said no problem at all, they marked out my husbands name and put my fathers name in his place. No waiting at all. :-) Just tell your SR that the Moms said he will get a chance to update the list a couple weeks before PIR :-)

well, I thought I'd share with you guys-- since my family mainly looks at me like I'm nuts--  I planned to get a tattoo when each of my kids grad boot camp (three enlisted)  I have one from when I was in that I got at NATTC Millington.  Besides, my SR son is a HUGE tattoo fan, my husband is less so.  Well, for Christmas my husband got me a gift certificate to get the tattoo.  :)  I was really surprised.  So I am either getting last lyrics to Anchors aweigh:  Faith, courage, service true/  With honor over, honor over all.  Or a swallow which is a traditional   sailor tattoo....  ahhh welll.   Also, we bid on a house today!
