OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Lala.  I totally agree....I just don't understand posting on FB because of the last name issue.  We sure can't use last names on this site!

leaglen:  Don't think we Navy4Moms can change the PIR guest names.  Never have heard of that, unless it is a FB option  But he will have a chance to update the list...probably in the next couple of weeks...so make sure he knows what names to put down (full names...matching ID)--write him now.  Also, extras should get in anyway with proper ID.  So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

leaglen, thank you i didnt see that post, wheni spoke to my husband on christmas he did tell me him and a couple other SR's are in the process of designing theirs :)

If your privacy settings are set to only friends can see your page then no one can see your page. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Posting comments there are fine just don't go into detail about what your recruit says in letters or phone calls. Especially anything negative. My point about facebook is that anyone can see comments made there on a public page and can see you first and last name and I have even seen people post comments like "my son, John Smilth arrived at bootcamp today, when can I expect a letter or call?" Then you can click on their name and see what town they are from. It just seems crazy that they can post so much info on that site and they don't won't us posting any names at all.

I do know that if your facebook page is private no one can see your info by going through the RTC facebook page. All they can see if what you post and your name. I didn't mean to worry you :-) Sorry about that.

navywife11:  I didn't see a response to you about the flag.  My SR ship3/div48 said they already designed theirs.

Comment by BusyLifeHappyWife on December 28, 2011 at 5:02pm

Lala...so for the Recruit FB page, they are not our "friend" right, so they shouldn't be able to see our info if our security settings are only set to "friends"?  I can't find them listed under my friends list....It's all freaking me out now.  I'm not great with this stuff...lol

Comment by BusyLifeHappyWife on December 28, 2011 at 5:00pm

About the FB posts.  Are you referring to the ones on the Boot Camp FB page?  Our last names are listed on FB so how do we keep that from them?  Now I'm concerned I'm causing my SR problems?  I don't list his name at all, but my full name sure shows up and we have the last name.  It's not that common.......Should I just quit posting to it?

Comment by BusyLifeHappyWife on December 28, 2011 at 4:55pm

My son did not put on his form letter the correct attendees for PIR.  He said there is some web page I need to go to and change it.  He said, "talk to all your Moms, they should know where it is", LOL.....Where can I go change it?  Thanks!!

navywife that is awesome please send them my way.

Laurie- I am so sorry this path has ended for you son but it sounds like he is a strong young man who knows what he wants and isn't willing to accept any less and that is how it should be. I wish him all the best in the world. Please stay in touch and let us know what branch he does decide to join. I will keep him in my prayers.

Sorry I have been away today, My Sailor made it home late last night :-) So I have been with her today celebrating our late Christmas. She is now off to see her friends so I thought I better jump on here and check on all my Navy friends :-) I hope you are all having a great day!!!

Laurie...It's obvious that you are a really good Mom...you have given your son the courage to know that he didn't want the other job.  I'm glad that he didn't settle...I agree with Kathb that it wasn't his path.  Smart man to know what path he should walk!  God bless you and your family!
