Betsy dear...thinking of you and all your news...can't type much more...sorry!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on December 9, 2011 at 5:36pm

Actually...I just realized it is afternoon! I am afraid I am more sick (am going to doctor today) and just [plain didn't notice as I got up just a little while ago...so it is "morning" for me!

So, I am SIQ and LLD! HA! ...but not so ha...I miss being on as much. I am working on the next PIR group so my energies will be more focused there for a few days...I know you are in VERY capable hands with dianne, Betsy and LaLa...as these were the very same ladies who got ME through BC and PIR! Also, JessicaB and Sandy.

I know you thank us but I thank all of you because being "with" you...I get just as much back.

I'll be reading and checking in! Not much could keep me away form you all!

Blessings to you,

FTLW

BEAUTIFUL, Lala.  You have inherited your mom's talent!  So so cute!

By the way, my son was one of the first two divisions of his PIR group.  Those 2 divisions did their BattleStations a week before PIR.  They go in numerical order, with the exception of the 800/900 divisions. So his division/brother division were done about 5 days before the last divisions were done.

Like I said...very confusing!

Betsy, I am not sure which group to post this pic on in order for you to see it quickly but here is the pic of your tote and Kindle bag. They are on their way to you now and the other tote is on its way to Hawaii :-)  I hope you love them. Please let me know when they arrive.

Hello Folks!

Well…our Seabee son is home! Hubby flew out to watch the ceremony and bring him home. I was able to book hubby on the same flight as our son. Both my men are reservists.  He wasn’t able to go to PIR as he was in Iraq. I am thankful he was able to go to “A” school grad…it was a very nice ceremony and he wore his dress uniform (AF).

The graduation was on Pearl Harbor Day. (Ironically, that was the result of the formation of the Seabees…civilian contractors had been used to build up until the U.S. officially entered the war.) Then they flew home that day. He had to report to his duty station the next day so they just drove out and spent the night there. He is now tucked away on the couch with his favorite dog (who is VERY happy to see him) and relaxing.

It’s been eight months since he left for Boot Camp...so thankful he finished and finished well…his whole class made honor student.

Here is a drawing my other son did for a poster we made for him…(yeah it’s an M-16 not a Thompson…but when he did a search on his iPad I think he got a really old picture of a Seabee! LOL)

Just remember, ladies, when figuring out the week/day count your SR is on, that with holidays, their training day moves back one.  Since Christmas/New Years are on Sundays this year, not sure if that will affect it or not, but kinda think that they may observe holiday procedure on the Mondays after that.  Don't worry...they still PIR on time..it would just move back their training number a day each time there is a holiday.

Laurie, I found phone cards for my son at our local grocery store, but that was a couple of years ago.  But you may want to check your grocery store/drug store.

JudyAnn/navywife:  Don't think that today is 2-1.  First, it would not be for the entire PIR group.  It would be for brother divisions, maybe a couple of sets of them.  You can count back from 1/27 as Week7 Day5 for the higher numbered divisions.  It can get pretty confusing.

My guess is that they are still in week #1 of training.  It is good if you all write down the week/day number if your SR tells you...write it on your calendar and you can then figure it out.  They do BattleStations on 6-4 of 6-5.  I remember my son saying that they had "completed training by 6-5."  Just remember, different divisions will be at this 6-5 at different times.

Regardless, they will be sailors "strutting their stuff" on 1/27 at PIR!  HOOYAH!  By the way, they are actually "sailors" at the capping ceremony which is right after they finish BattleStations.  Nope, you can't be there to see that...but every now and then, RTC FB will post a pic of it for a division--- for a winner of the trivia contest.  It is when they trade their RECRUIT cap for their SAILOR cup and  it is a very emotional time for them, as you can imagine!

@ navywife11...I've gotten it twice now that today is 2-1...and one of the sources was directly from the lips of my SR during her call yesterday morning when she said "Today (Thursday) is 1-5, tomorrow (Friday) is 2-1" but...I follow your logic. the only conclussion I can offer is that apparently (from Navy literature and historical posts) most PIR ceremonies are held on Thursdays or used to be...dunno...its a semi educated guess, but 7-5 would be a Thursday for our group but we all know our ceremony is on a Friday so...I'm okay with the formula that our ceremony is the day after 7-5 :-) Sounds good huh?

Like shipping directly before a national holiday to only be putting in a holding pattrrn...who are we to try to apply logic to the infinate wisdom of our heroic armed forces (no sarcasm intended) ...which is largely ran by men. :-)
