Where is Sarge's meet & greet for this PIR? We are driving from AZ to IL. Leaving Tues. so hope to get there at least early Thurs. so can go to Sarge's meet & greet.
does anyone know how exactly the "count" weeks? my husband left nov 21st, i count us being in the 3rd week, but i wasnt sure on how they do it with the P days...? im trying to calculate it because they have that navydep site that gives us some idea what they do each day/week, any one can help?
Wow, Tonya. What alot of info! I have to agree with Lala...might want to delete and post again, more abbreviated. Best to kind of "lay low" on here as far as identity. You can let others know on here that you have info about their division and then private message with them.
Yes, IT...not fun. I know that when my son was there, one night when they had IT, they were all so tired, that they fell into their racks afterwards, dirty and sweaty--no showers. He is a "clean freak" and I asked if that drove him crazy...going to sleep so scuzzy...and he said he didn't care at all because he was so exhausted!
Don't worry...the division will come together. It is still early and they are still in that "breakdown" mode, trying to get all on the same page. Eventually, that phase is complete and then they start the "build up" stage which is much more positive for them.
As far as the SRs who have left his division, they can't just "quit." Believe me...many want to this early on...my son said there was always a line outside the RDCs' office of ones wanting to...but they can be discharged for other reasons, and some of those who are no longer there could have been asmoed (setback) in training (not discharged)...they will join another PIR group/division later once their training is resumed. My son was asmoed for a week..so I know how that works! They can be asmoed for sickness, injury, academic failure, or discipline.
Bootcamp does end during week 7, but their actually training to become a sailor ends before then. By 6-4 or 6-5, they are ready to do BattleStations and after that, they are sailors. Many times, the first ones to go through BattleStations are done a week before PIR. That was the case for my son. Some may not finish until the day before PIR.
On the PFA (PT) requirements. The requirements are gender/age-based so being older, he doesn't have as strict of requirements as the younger ones have. YAH! Glad he passed! He will have to take this test again. They are given it 3 times during bootcamp...I heard recently that if they pass the first two, they don't have to take the third. Not positive on that, but that is what one mom reported her SR said. I know if they have not passed during the first two, they MUST pass the 3rd/final one or they will be put in the FIT DIVISION until they do.
So great about his bunkmate!
Good morning, all!
thats great you received all that info! i can NOT wait till i get a call or letter! i need some communication to keep me going! ive read that the divisions with the same PIR date has been contacting family and been getting letters, no im hoping that 2/910 will be NEXT :) all i can do is pray and wait patiently :) 48 days!!!!!!!
Tonya, It is awesome that you can remember so many great details for all the moms here to get an idea about what is going on. My concern is that all the detail will allow the RDC's to figure out who your SR is and who the Mail PO is and he may get into trouble. Maybe you could remove this post and send it in a private message to the others in your sons division. I know it seems crazy but some of the RDC's do read these posts and I have your SR and his friends best interest in mind. I love that he can tell when he gets letters from you. I always sent my Sailors letters in American Flag decorated envelopes and loved that.
Good morning everyone.
Tonya; That worries me that their division is getting into trouble. But about the late night thing...sounds familier! I pray it wasn't my boy taking part in it. I mean, I want him to have fun, BUT!!! David should have learned back in his high school football days, you goof off, you pay for it with sweat!! But, high school football was a in the past. Your SR may not be "much" older than the others. There not all just out of high school. As for David, he needed to grow up a lot! He wasn't ready for this in 2007. (well, I hope he grew up. That "too loud after hours" thing is still eatin' at me).
@ Tonya... Thank You for sharing your phone call... loved reading the info. There were items in there I'd forgotten about so it made me knock out a quick letter to my SR!! Hope the pregnancy is being good to you!!
Congrats Tonya!!! It's great to have an idea of what is going on with our SR. Thanks!!!
Yay tonya!! I wish his div wasn't getting in trouble. :( but sounds like he'll stand out for NOT being a trouble maker!! Lemme tell ya, I'm envious! I want a call!
My SR is Ship 12 Div 049
