OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

They don't charge your debit or credit card for the hotel until you get there and check in and at that time you can even pay cash if you prefer. Navy Lodge is having a special of only $59.00 I believe if you ask for the holiday rate so it is pretty reasonable :-) I would go ahead and book it now and then if you have to cancel later no charge as all like Dianne said :-)

Comment by diannep on December 8, 2011 at 3:44pm

JudyAnn:  Why can't you go ahead and make hotel reservations?  If you book direct with them, you can cancel/change usually up until the day before arrival.  I wouldn't wait on the hotel reservations as some book up!

Hang in there, KaitsMom>   It is not easy...but military families are resilient!

Also, PROUD MOM, I already sent you all the info for the ribbons this morning. It should be in your inbox, top right side of your page. If you didn't get it let me know.

I have never seen anyone get that many calls this early especially. I have a feeling it is supposed to be to get info and she is just staying longer than she is supposed to or maybe she just has a really nice RDC :-) And she could be doing very well and be getting them as a reward. usually when they call this soon it is for security info and they have an RDC breathing down their back and only allowing a few seconds for the call. Hopefully others will getting calls very soon :-)

For those who were asking questions about the ribbons you can send me a friend request on this site and I will send you the info about the ribbons. You can also send me an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com There are a few pics on my page here on N4M's and lots of pics on my facebook page.

Here is a link to my page, if it works lol. Thanks so much everyone.

Oops, thought I was in "Boot Camp" discussions, that's why I asked about PIR date! If I'd have paid attention, would have known your daughters PIR JudyAnn! Sorry! :)

I haven't gotten a call or a letter...but i've written him a few letters and sent two Christmas cards.

@ anitamt73  Same deal... My daughter shipped on 11/22 for PIR of 1/27 too.  I'm just gonna enjoy them while they last, cause all good things come to an end at some point huh?  Happy to share what I can with you all as I get it.  It is easier to extract intel in a conversation and faster too.  I wrote her an 8 page letter and in one phone call we'd covered everything in it and my questions to her too!  :-)

Comment by JudyAnn (IT A-School) on December 8, 2011 at 2:51pm

@ Mindy... OH yah... Its not what I expected at all!!  I've gotten 5 since last Friday with 2 coming in one day, her sister has gotten 2, she's called her dad at least twice and it sounds like she tries to reach at least one friend each time until one of them answers.  She's managed to do all this without using her earned phone time for making her bunk well!  I'm wondering why send letters if I can just wait for the next phone call!  Other than pictures, she has all the news and has answered my questions before the letters ever get written or received!  LOL.  I'm just wondering if this phone call activity will continue like this right? I'm befuddled!!

JudyAnn when did your SR leave? Just curious what stage shes in & getting to call. My sons PIR is 1/27 & other moms got letters yesterday. Unfortunately where I live usually takes 1-2 days longer to receive mail. :(
