Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

After living in New England for 24 years and moving to Arizona, I can still say that I do not miss the snow (except at Christmas) or the freezing, bone chilling days. At least not yet anyway! Yes, very large graduating group! I was just so blasted excited to receive that letter!

I know what you mean though, since I lived in New Mexico for 6 years and also loved those kinds of days when we were there. This is going to be a very large graduation group, so unfortunately there will only allow 3 guests per SR. :(

Comment by PatsFan923 HM Mom on December 14, 2012 at 9:50am: Good morning, everyone! It is a wonderful cold, rainy day here in Arizona! I received my form letter yesterday! I was never so happy to receive mail with my son's handwriting in my entire life! The letter was redacted from allowing the normal four people to attend PIR on 2/1 to three and the normal rectangle box for them to write a message in, was not on the form letter. So, he is on Ship 03 Div 082. Rose, this is the same as your son. Any other parents/wives, etc., have loved ones in this Ship/Div.?

Comment by diannep on December 14, 2012 at 9:39am: Not So Blue: Although Sarge's MeetandGreet started after I had already attended my son's PIR, we have heard rave reviews about it. It is held at the Sundance Saloon....and he and his wife provide all of the food out of their own pocket....free to you (but donations accepted!). He is retired military and has been in the area for over 30 yrs. He is full of info. He provides the transportation for the sailors at GL A School, around town and to the airports, so he is kept aware of current info. The comment we get the most from those who have attended his MeetandGreet is that the info he gave them for PIR Day and the weekend was invaluable! So I hope all can go to it.

You can RSVP to this over on the right of this page. And, don't worry about the Saloon facility...bring the kids! It is very kid friendly....just a convenient place to have it since it is close to Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, a few others.
