~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

ADDING Extra Guests to another recruits Access List:
It is against RTC Policy to do so.
You won't find that information anywhere on there official website OR on their FB page (as of 11:19 PM tonight anyways...sometimes I post something and it is change in the AM as they have made several changes latley LOL...keeps me on my toes!)
But the subject has been brought over the years and most recently on their FB page RTC PAO answered it. Here is a FORUM Discussion I did on it and the reply is posted on it by another member.
Just read the first reply to the Dsicussion...the rest have to do with past PIR's.
hAdding Guests to another Recruits Access List - Against RTC Policy
Not so Blue - As far as references...it would be additional names of family or friends above the ones they already provided during the enlistent process.
They will want name, phone number and address that the person can be reached.
Your recruit may or may not make this call, not all do. They may ask for the info to be faxed, emailed or "I need it right now.", over the phone.
Yes, those Sailors that are attending A school anywhere other than GL, the standard procedure is to fly them out the day after PIR.
Some may not leave until Sunday or some are even "on hold" for a week (more depending on the situation). You won't know this until very close to PIR (they don't get their orders until a few days before), so we advise that folks stay until Sunday IF your time and finances permit it.
My son PIR'd on a Thursday as it was Memorial Day Weekend (though the next yearthey did not do this and PIR was Friday as usual), and then did not have to leave until Sunday. I had booked through until Sunday (based on the advice of my PIR GROUP mommas) full well expecting him to leave Friday. That was the status when he made his "I'm a Sailor" call. Then on Tuesday, while I was flying over, he called and left a message that it had been changed. So we lucked out!
This can happen on "normal" PIR's... it is not as common. Some folks just book to leave Saturday and then change it if they get extra liberty time. Southwest is a good airline as far as no change fees (is that right veteran moms?, not my "area" so I tend to forget LOL!) and free first bag allowance.
We just want you to know the "possibilities" and then you can make a decision from there. It was hard, felt like too much info and hard to decide...but I took a couple of weeks and weighed everything and then was at peace with it. :-)
You'll all be that way too!
This is really the "first" in their careers for this. Plans are made and organized but they can change at the last minute as well. Knowing that, preparation and flexibility are the keys.
my boyfriend in ship 14 div 078....anyone with a child or loved one same div?
Hi Rose, no form letter from my daughter yet, either. Kid in box came a couple of days ago, but I'm on a business trip! Hubby says he won't open it till I get home. I did change my username after reading guidelines again -- was pjneal over in the "Boot Camp" forum. Anyone else have a SR in Div 912? I know that's a ceremonies division; daughter said she was going to try to get in one since she loved drill in high school JROTC.
Hi everyone - still no form letter from my son today and I'm so disappointed. :( I know I need to be patient....I'm trying!!! I guess I have to get used to this lack of communication. Hoping to get my letter tomorrow.... good night, all!
Whats the chance of getting a loved one on another sailor recruits list? If they have an extra. Just wondering.
Thank you D! Residence is what i went with! Usually stay there when away. And my mom is coming. I already sent a letter reminding my son to oreder the dvd and photos. My moms never wanted to be on "a list" so bad. Unlike Santas naughty list. lol.
What exactly is this Sarge Meet and Greet like? I'm excited. Feels like such a wonderful community we have here! Thank you everyone!! ~Tina
Blue, not Blu....sorry!
Blu: Residence Inn may work for you all. They have 2 bdrm 2 bath suites (queen in each bedroom, pullout sleeper sofa in living room). Full kitchen. Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet (the one we recommend you go to). About 4-5 miles from RTC. Free hot buffet breakfast, PIR shuttle.
And, so sorry, but they are not letting extras into PIR anymore. Only the ones on the list (there are no tickets). But your mom can wait at the hotel and spend the rest of the day with your sailor/you all! Make sure you order the PIR DVD (if your sailor didn't) at the NEX after PIR so your mom can watch it later!
