Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Blue, I have made reservations at the Navy Lodge. Sounds like there are lots of choices in the area to chose from. I like the idea of no tax on the room rate, helps me with my trip budget...lol. The price you see is what you pay! What a great concept! lol

Welcome, MSgtRet! We love having "dads" on this site. Please feel free to share any of our info on Navy Dads and....vice versa! Thank you for your service! Craig has wonderful info too!

Oh, and you will like Springhill Suites....we get good reviews from the ladies/families who stay there. And SARGE is "the best!" He is retired military so you all may have lots to talk about! He has a great MeetandGreet also very close to where you are staying--the night before PIR....hope you will attend!

So I bought the tulle and opened it and cut one piece. Glitter went everywhere. So I put it back in the bag and took it with me and made it at her house lol. I let her deal with it with a vacuum cleaner lol

jillymom: My son got asmoed for not reporting another SR who had a girl write down her phone number (considered fraternizing). The SR had showed it to my son....and he didn't say anything to anyone. Yep, they are no nonsense in bootcamp! Whether AF or Navy, or Army or Marines, for that matter! :-)

To stop getting emails when someone posts from this group, go to SETTINGS (top right under your username), click on "EMAILS" on the left side....and make the selections you want/don't want on that page.
