Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh, Just in case, a little reminder for everyone...If you are sending Christmas cards please make sure they do not have glitter.
It is very hard to clean up ( as most know that have crafted with it) and could cause them to lose points (a "hit") on an inspection.
Even one piece shines very brightly...it's okay on here though! LOL
@KLO...my sincere sympathies go out to you. My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in July, and died November 2nd of this year. At the time of her diagnosis, my son was SO afraid that something would happen while he was away, and he also told us that he did not want to know if it happened...luckily he got to spend a lot of time with her before she passed. This is a hard decision...I think we probably would have honored his wishes, just so it wouldn't distract him, and that's what my mom would have wanted, too. My prayers will be with you....
Okay, I have some "company" now...hubby is AF SFS (reserves, 28 years). :-)
Our son is a Seabee (again reserves!)
Welcome to all the new Members!
Hello MSgtRet - thought I would say hello as I am an Air Force Brat and that is what my dad's rank was when he retired. He was an air traffic controller. :)
Alison, I saw a connecting flight in PHX on one of my searches....I'll let you know if we end up taking that flight and maybe we will be together on that last leg so you won't have to travel alone. We will be flying into MKE also so it just might work out. I hate to travel alone!
Here's a funny Cristmas scene...needed a good laugh today!
MSgtRet, my Sailor was also in the performing division when she was in bootcamp. One oif the best advantages is you have a really good chance of finding a pic of them performing at a PIR a week or two before their own :)
MSgtRet Div 912: Glad that you are part of the group! Welcome!
