~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello all, I am another of your veteran moms here on this site.
My sons PIR was in April and he is now at A School in GL, at least until tomorrow. :) His school was scheduled to end the first day of stand down, so they were fast tracked and looks like they will finish tomorrow. Yippee, then off to C School maybe, or to the fleet then C School, or several months of brushing up the janitorial skills before C School or out to the Fleet. Yep, more hurry up and waiting, welcome to the Navy. :)
This site was a life saver for me too when my son was in BC, and I am looking forward to chatting with you all.
Count the Fridays left not the weeks, time will go faster, and before you know it you will have a SAILOR!!!
Hi everyone! I just got home from Miami seeing my son's GF off. There were only 5 other recruits flying with her, 2 were 800 division. Last week there were at least 15 flying with my son...I wonder if they are going to finish rounding off the divisions with them and the other flights coming in today? She is going to call me once she gets to the USO and let me know how many are on the bus tonite. Last week (Thurs) my son told me there were at least 300 that were there!
Zodiac, it is awesome that you seem to have a lot of info :) Do you have a recruit in this PIR group?
Hi everyone, I am Lala, one of your veteran Moms. I have been helping out on this site since my daughter had PIR in July 2010. In boot camp she was in the performing division and sang in the choir. While she was in A-school she married a young man she met in DEP. 4 days later he left for boot camp. They have now been married just over two years and are both based in VA Beach. My daughter has been preparing for deployment that is to happen early in 2013 but now that they are expecting a baby she won't be deployed for a long while. This Christmas they are supposed to be able to come home which is awesome since they were not home on Christmas the last two years. My son-in-law is an IT3 and my daughter is an AO3. For any of you who will have an AO please let me know if you have any questions. I learned a lot about that rate when my daughter chose it.We just recently found out that our Sailors are expecting their first baby and it is my first grandbaby so we are super excited :)
I am very happy to help you all in any way I can and I look forward to hearing all about you and your recruits. Feel free to friend request me if you like. I hope you all are have a wonderful experience on this site. It was a life saver for me!!! I know it is very hard with your recruits being away but just try to remember this is what they wanted to do and for many they are fulfilling their dream. They are in good hands and you will be seeing them before you know it. The days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. I look forward to getting to know you all and adding some more wonderful friends to my Navy family.
Lita, that is awesome! Great price; we are lucky with Southwest. I got mine for $300 and they have been running $500 so I was very happy! The bummer is that I think I will be coming alone. My hubby may be starting a new job and my older son has school that he can't miss; if thier schedule changes than they will just have to pay the higer price but at least I have 1 ticket!!
Just as a heads up; if anyone is flying to PIR and can fly southwest, their flights to Milwaukee (sp?) are on sale until Tonight at 11:59 PM! I got a heck of a deal and am thrilled. Milwaukee airport is about the same distance away as O'hare and Midway and lots, lots cheaper!!!
jillymom, they have changed the admitance regs and he will now NEED to be on the list; also it is expected that this PIR group (2/1) will only be allowed 3 people per SR since the group is so large. Everyone 2 years and older must be on the list and count towards the 3. Glad you checked as this maybe take some family coordination to get the list to 3! Good luck
