For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Unfortunately the time does seem to travel at a turtle's pace, especially when you are waiting so anxiously for word from your SR's. :(

Comment by PatsFan923 HM Mom on December 11, 2012 at 1:50pm: I joined this group in anticipation that my son will have a PRI date of 2/1/2013, as he shipped out to BC on 12/5, and I received the call from him at 12:28 AM 12/6. He traveled with 6 other guys and 1 lady from Phoenix. I have not heard a word and his recruiters are telling me that they cannot obtain any information on him for at least another week.

Rose, there is a very good possibility that you will be in this group, if your SR's division is 082. The last PIR group ended with division 76 so I would say it's a pretty good chance.

Another thing to consider, when booking your flights, is to look into Southwest Airlines, if they fly from your area. They do fly into Midway in Chicago and also to Milwaukee, (which is only about 50 minutes from Great Lakes). If you can book with them, they do not charge a penalty for changing flight dates. They also will allow 2 free checked bags.

I have a question for one of the veteran moms - Some of us are still waiting for the form letters to confirm the address and PIR date that we got from the recruiters office. I was wondering if there was any way you could confirm which ships and divisions are indeed going to PIR on 2/1/13. I thought I saw a list of that somewhere on another board. We would like to start booking tickets, etc. and want to make sure we are planning for the right date. Thanks so much for the support from all of us neurotic moms!!!! :)
