For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yesterday we had sleet, so everything was icy. Then it turned to rain, and I was worried about it all freezing. Last night it was warmer, and I actually heard thunder! Weird mid-west weather! My youngest was hoping for a day off from school because of ice, lol!

Ok, so it is possible that 079/080 could be calling this afternoon with the I'm a Sailor call. Could 081/082 have gone through also? Very possible. Never got confirmation on dates for this group and there were conflicts. Because they normally go through in consecutive order (low to high), except for the 800/900 divisions which can go at any time, and maximum 4 divisions can go a night...I don't think calls will be coming in from 083 and higher today....but to be on the safe side...all need to keep phones handy this afternoon.

So neat that your twins are up there at the same time...and one is talking smack about the other's division! :-) My sister had twin boys so I SO know about that!

Comment by Richard M. on January 27, 2013 at 3:10pm: Yahooooo! I got another phone call yesterday day from B. He is in 805. They won the captains cup! The reward was a trip to Recruit Heaven. It is on the base some where and there is fast food....and phones. They had a half hour to an hour to eat and make calls! Friday is the PIR I am so excited. There is a tremendous chance that 805 will be in the hall of fame what ever that means. I am so proud of the twins. I wish A. Was in 805 so I would hear from him just as often. A. Is in 804. B. says that 804 is doing ok but doesn't hold a candle to 805. Typical smack talk for the twins.
