~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Rose: The hotels book the PIR shuttle service (which are actually taxis operating as shuttles for PIR). Call the front desk of your hotel and ask if you reserve a time when you check in, or can you do it now. In my case, we reserved a particular shuttle when we checked in. Remind them that this is for Navy graduation.
Sarge does pick up at some hotels for his MeetandGreet. Text him and ask if he picks up at your hotel 847 212 0246
diannep - thank you, that's exactly the information I was looking for! How do I arrange for the shuttle service ahead of time? And I was looking everywhere but can't seem to find it now - for Sarge's Meet and Greet, is there a shuttle service for that, as well? Do I need to arrange for that in advance, also? So many little details to handle but I'm getting very excited! :)
Rose, we did. Didn't regret it. We were staying just up the street from you at Residence. The shuttle bypasses the car line...we were on the 6:30 one...perfect. Then we picked it back up at the gate, sailor in tow, and were back there in 10 minutes. Sailor wanted to take a nice L O N G shower, untimed :-) , by himself sans shipmates :-)....and then we headed out in our car for lunch and to explore!
Good morning everyone! I can't believe we only have 16 days left!!!! So excited I can barely stand it. I do have a question to ask:
We are staying at the Springhill Suites and we will be renting a car from the airport. Do you all think it is still better to take the shuttle to the PIR, rather than drive ourselves? In the interest of time, I'm not sure what will be best. I heard that parking is far away and the line getting on base is very long. I guess I just don't want to waste time sitting in a line of cars with the limited time we have with our SR so I'm trying to figure out what is the fastest way to get to/from the PIR. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Good Morning All!
jskmom, Yay! Go Raven's! We just moved back to MD about a year and a half ago and now live in Marriottsville in Carroll County, so we aren't too far from where you lived. :) PatsFan, Once a fan, always a fan. We actually lived in West Virginia for 6 years and then moved to New Mexico for 7 years and we still watched as many of the Raven's games that we could. We are living back in MD now. I agree, the game on Sunday will be awesome!
@Lala Ribbon - Sweet idea! Thank you!
Good morning :)
We sent our last letters on Saturday before PIR and she got it on Thursday. I think it takes them longer in first few weeks of Boot camp to get them than it does later and I know it can be really different with each division. Even if they don't receive it hopefully it will catch up to them at A-school :) You can also make a copy of your last couple of letters and give it to them at PIR to read there. That way if they didn't receive it they can still have it :)
@herbgarden, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and your SR during this very difficult time.
@besty - thank you for the information, I really appreciate it. It seems as if he is getting my mail a lot sooner than other SRs in other divisions are. I guess my last letter could go out from AZ on 1/25 and he will get it on that Tuesday or Wednesday before PIR, or later in the week. We moved to AZ from Maine - true New England Patriots fans! Should be a great game on Sunday! GO PATS! :)
