~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks ellen--I am trying to realize that, at least I know there is only 22 days (almost 21) days left..and I KNOW that he will be at least making the "Im a sailor" call. His GF who graduates 2/8--both her parents got calls today--I just hope that the division gets its act together (like NOT talking during chow---DUH!)...so the "good guys" don't get the "collateral damage" as my SR called it...LOL The bright side is that we are getting letters almost every day from both of them, and that keeps me optimistic!
DrJudi. the RDCs giveth and they taketh away...LOL. My son earned three extra phone calls while in BC and received none of those calls. There are lots of reasons why they never happen and may not have anything to do with your son, and maybe he has just not been given the time to make them.
I have my fingers crossed that you get that call!!
Some time ago someone posted the link to RTC Great Lakes showing the upcoming PIRs etc., and I am unable to locate that. Can someone repost that link or add it to the "pages" up above for a quick link? I would very much appreciate it. Thank you and have a great day!
...I cried from the moment I entered PIR Hall for my son's. What a wimp I am....during the ceremony, I asked my older son (25 at the time) something about filming something. He didn't answer me...I looked at him...he was crying. So NOT my son in things like that. We were missing my hubby/their dad, who passed away 8.5 yrs earlier. He would have been so proud...we didn't need to tell each other that...we know what we were thinking. We were the bumbling duo during PIR for sure! The piks taken right after PIR show my "lovely" face, after crying, makeup GONE (waterproof mascara not so waterproof) but big smiles on our faces! Can't wait for you all to experience it...it is so wonderful!
Hi everybody! I have been so busy, haven't been able to post for a few days. I have gotten quite a few letters from my SR and his GF, and they are both doing well, he had 3 wisdom removed on 1/2, so he was SIQ for a couple of days. Hasn't mentioned anything (thank God) about the stomach flu yet. He did tell me that they broke into sections and had a trivia contest to study for their first test, and his section won, so his "prize" was a 15 min phone call home...still have not received that phone call.....wonder why...UGH..trying to stay positive that it will come anytime now. I did find out that the division also won a flag for passing test 1 with a divisional score of 4.7--so it looks like they are starting to come together as a team...we only have 22 days to go!!!!!
jskmom - good call to wait and watch it at home. I'm at work now and thought I could watch it again without getting too emotional - NOPE! Had to turn it off less than 2 minutes in. HA! I'm such a sap..... :) I'm so glad I won't be the only one at the PIR that will be crying my eyes out. Good morning everyone and I hope you all make it a great day! XOXOXO
Good morning everyone, happy Wednesday/letter day for so many of you :)
Diane and Rose. That video was overwhelming. The pride in my heart right now! Thanks for sharing
