Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Rose, I share those tears - I watched it at work! Nuts! If it were not for this group, the BC Mom's group, FC and the Navy Depper's website, I truly believe that all of us loved ones would be a total mess. Thanks to all of you who have and continue to support us as we get through these last several weeks. We are just about down to 22 days left, and you all have made this an amazing and informational experience. I commend you all. God Bless and GO NAVY!!

I am beyond excited for Feb. 1st but I'm so nervous for my SR. I know they are heading into the two hardest weeks of boot camp and I'm praying that all of the recruits buckle down and work together to successfully complete these last 23 days. Thanks to you and to all of the admins on this website and on the FB pages that have truly held our hands and our hearts while we have gone through our own type of boot camp. :) You have have been life savers and I'm certain that I would have been a raging lunatic if it weren't for all of you and all of the other amazing people that are going through these same crazy emotions as I am. GO NAVY!!!

Being in the summer, these sailors were in their Dress Whites, and yours will be in their Dress Blues. Here's the link...Kleenex ready! The mom of the sailor in this produced this and since that is her business, this one is particularly well done! Enjoy!

Although I thought I would cry when I heard my sons voice last Friday, but I was so happy just to hear him, I did not cry. The first 2 weeks were the hardest. I cried everyday, just thinking about him. PIR will be different I think. There will be a lot of us blubbering in the stands.

This just means I'm going to be a slobbering mess at the actual ceremony!!!! :) God, please help me keep it together.....I'm going to need to bring in a whole box of Kleenex, I think.
