Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Craig on January 7, 2013 at 1:09am: snowman - The USS Burke coin, both Spec Ops and regular is currently not available. It is in the mint process. The coin for the Burke is only for pre-sale. The regular Burke coin should be available about the 12th. The Spec Ops should be soon after that. I'm thinking the 20th.

The Spec Ops coin is extremely hard to make since it is so detailed. The wording is small, and the graphics are hard. I have had to reject the mold 3 times now, and hopefully, it will be correct. I have too much pride in these guys to give them a crappy coin. It's got to be 100% correct

All other ships are available.

Comment by JodenneShip14Div078 on January 6, 2013 at 11:12pm: @pat1930a - my son's letter dated 1/1/13 stated about the same thing - how many of the guys in there just don't get it. How they have caused them to lose a flag and they have caused their average to go way down. He said that 4-1 - they will start amosing some of the guys if they don't get it! He's pretty upset with some of them - saying they are just screwing around and not taking this seriously. He does seem up beat about everything - they were just about to start 3-1 on Wednesday (1/2/13) and getting high & tights - more classes, more on jobs, more training - which he was really excited about about. Hopefully everyone will come together soon!

I am wondering do you do that on you computer? And could you do one that says July 23rd PIR for me. I would love to have it for my Sailor's scrapbook :)
