~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Are our SR's allowed to receive boxes? She wrote and asked me to send her Blistex, her makeup for PIR, and her checkbook. She didn't bring any makeup. I packed up a small box with a mascara, eyeliner, moisturizer, makeup brushes, Blistex and 2 things I think were blush. Also her checkbook and some cash. I mailed it priority mail thru the US Post Office. They said it would take 2 or 3 days. I also put a list of the items inside the box, so if they had to open it, they would know what was inside right away. Will she receive this, and will she get in trouble? I sent it yesterday. I know I should have asked someone on here first, but my husband was working from home, and on the computer all day, and I was in a hurry to get it to her before pictures, and she asked for it ASAP.
My son will be going to A school in Meridian, Mississippi anyone else?
Craig, love that poem - I sent it to my son with our first batch of letters!
Our son is also going to Pensacola/Corry Station for A School. I really hope it is just a rumor that they might be held for awhile to "class up" :(
I realize nothing is guaranteed with the military when it comes to timing and liberty, etc..., but we made specific plans according to him being able to take liberty in May, after A School for 14 weeks. We're building a new house starting in March, and it's a long story, but we were supposed to be out of here by April 1st, and temporarily live in one of those efficiency hotel suites until our house was done - but we arranged to stay here through June 1st so that our son would be able to come back "HOME" and be in his own room while he's here. I'm going to feel really bad if his liberty is later and he ends up coming back while we're stuck in a little hotel suite. ugh!!
Diannep: That's too funny about your son leaning on the wall and it sounds like you heard the whole thing, lol. Although I'm sure it wasn't funny for him or you at the time : (
He just said, his shipmates went home but he might have just said home, not really knowing exactly the circumstances.
He didn't mention the no talking and eating part, lol. I guess they can eat in 15 min. if they don't talk : )
I figured he was going to be at the airport as I have heard that before. We will just go with the flow.
Thanks!!
mynavyson: My son also got in trouble when he was at bootcamp for leaning against a wall while talking on the phone. He had just gotten off a 4 hr watch and was tired (night)...I could hear the RDC barking at him in the background. He got really quiet and then whispered....did you hear that? I got in trouble for leaning against the wall. Well, rules are rules! :-)
Also, did his shipmates go home or were they just setback? Many times, some are setback for one reason or another, and then they continue training with another PIR group. Hope that is the case with the missing shipmates in his division!
Did he also tell you that there is no talking allowed when they eat? Nope, not a word. Just EAT! :-)
The time he can spend with you on Saturday would be at the airport. They are bussed there in the wee hours of the morning to wait for their flights. You can give them personal items when you meet them at the airport.
Linda: Most times, they send them to A School and "hold" them there if they need to. I have a friend who was held for close to 3 mos in Pensacola before he "classed up." We hear this "rumor" on the groups every now and then....that they will be held at GL. If they are, it usually is just for a couple of days. RTC doesn't have the space to hold too many sailors....so they are anxious to get them out to their schools.
So excited to get a 3 page letter yesterday. I believe Thursdays are the days as that is when we received our last one. He is Ship 03, Div 082 and doing great. His job is a Ship Mate and standing watch/guard. He said he was leaning against a wall during his position and got in trouble. He had to to 5 min of exercise. He greets people as they board and salutes them. He said 4 people went home from his division. His bunk mate is from California and most of the people are pretty cool. He has been sick since last Wed but everyone in his division was sick as well. They are getting better. He said they only get 15 min. to eat. He wrote on the 23rd of Dec. so he didn't have Christmas yet but said, they wouldn't be abe to call home on Christmas because the Div. failed inspection. He is getting razor burn from shaving everyday. He said he might be able to spend the day Friday with us and even part of Sat. before he leaves for A school. Overall, he is doing well and we are thrilled for him. My prayers have been answered!
My daughter is going to Pensacola as well. For me, it will be a straight shot down I-10!
