~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve Eve!!

I got the best Christmas present ever on Friday. My sailor son, who I haven't seen since April, and was not expecting home this Christmas, walked in my front door.  .

Good Morning Ladies!

We got our third letter from our SR today! He still sounds very upbeat. Talks about his Division drooping from 88 to 72. He has finally received our letters and even admitted how he teared up, but 'sucked it up, so he wouldn't get dogged!' He sent the paperwork to us with his life insurance policy and GI bill! He already sounds so changed, matured and proud of all that he has accomplished already! Hugs to all you moms/sisters/girlfriends/fiancé ! They are doing great!

Those new sailors staying at GL A School will move over there shortly after PIR is over.  If they don't move over to GL A School base on PIR Day, then most likely they will be flying out the next day for A School in another city.

Lady Hamilton:  When my son was asmoed, the reason he was given was that he did not report "fraternization" that occurred with his shipmate.  That was the term he used to me...I had not heard of that term before.  So right or wrong, that is the term that is being used at Bootcamp with the SRs.

Thank you diannep and Lady Hamilton for the clarification. That helps a lot! ;)
Comment by diannep on December 22, 2012 at 8:35pm

Yes, Rose.  They are usually bussed out around 1 or 2 a.m. to wait for flights.  You meet your sailor there and you can get a gate pass (have ID) from the airlines to get through security and wait until your sailor's plane leaves.  He has a Navy-issued backpack that he can put his personal items in when you bring them to the airport.

Glad you got such an uplifting letter from him!

Hello everyone!  I have a question for one of the "veteran moms" on here. :)  I understand that on Saturday after PIR all of the sailors are taken to the airport at the same time super early in the morning, regardless of what time their flight is.  Is that still correct? And how does it work if we want to meet our son there and spend time with him at the gate before he leaves for A school?  I think someone posted something about a "gate pass" or something along those lines???  We are just trying to figure out how we are supposed to get him his cell phone, etc. before he heads of to A school in San Antonio. Anyone with some insight on this would be greatly appreciated.  I've had a rough couple of days missing my son so much but trying to focus on seeing him on Feb. 1st is helping.

By the way, we got our first letter from him on Thursday and it was so great to hear from him!!!  I posted my thoughts on the FB page but forgot to mention it here. He said that his peanut butter shot was still hurting but that everything else was good.  He sounded upbeat and it seemed like the Division was pulling together well.  He said he has made a lot of new friends and that the RDC's aren't too bad. Thank you God!!!  Hugs to all.....
