Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Christmas morning was not the same...he is the one who brings fun and laughter into it. Sigh....but just know...hopefully you will have many more Christmases with him in the future!

Comment by diannep on December 22, 2012 at 7:32pm: Yes, I so agree with jillymom and FTLW. My son was shown a phone number from a female that another SR had gotten, and he didn't report him. Somehow the SR was found out and I guess told them that he had showed it to my son. Both this SR and my son were setback in training.....So...absolutely no fraternization is allowed at all!

Comment by snowmanmom on December 22, 2012 at 5:26pm: This is the first Christmas I will not be with one of my children, my son and although my heart is breaking, I knew the time would come when one of them would move away. Praying is a must and knowing he is with others is a comfort to me. I know the memories good and bad these new men and women in his live is part of his family now and one thing that we all can take the most comfort in they are there for one another a Team. They are doing better than we are I am sure. I am very thankful for the groups on this website it has been a blessing to me to read I am not alone in my feelings when my family really dont understand. THANK YOU to all of you!!! May each of you hhave a very Merry Chrstmas and a very Blessed New Year!!! Brenda

So if they're lucky they may see each other but should not make any contact...not even a note passed.
The recruits are very instructed in this.

Comment by jillymom on December 22, 2012 at 4:33pm: My Airman told me if he was seen having any conversation with a female, he was automatically recycled. It might be different in Navy as they are integrated, but don't want DrJudi's SRs to get into any trouble!

Its funny because she is USS Arizona and he is USS Ashleigh Burke, they are located kinda close together....lol...I wonder if they have seen each other!

The weather still cancelled flights for some trying to get out for yesterday's PIR though....sigh...I know there were alot of disappointed sailors and families too....
