~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Not sure if anyone will know this or not but when can I expect to receive my husbands first paycheck? He left 12/5 and had all of our banking information. He left almost a month early that we were anticipating so we didn't have as much time as we would have liked to get bills paid ahead of time.

Welcome to the Group!  My Son also arrived on 12/5, but is in Ship 03 Div 082 and left from Phoenix.

I am thinking based upon info imomxfour shared on Friday, that today starts week 2.  SR's have completed processing and week 1 and are starting week 2 which according to the weekly routine shared here includes 3 inspections and an academic test!  Hopefully we get letters this week and confirm what day they are on.

I would have loved to send letters out immediately, however, I did not receive his address until Thursday at 4 PM and then I notified his Recruiters what his address was, as they still did not have it.  I did, however, place a note in his wallet and reminded him at the airport that it was in there for him to read until he did receive letters.  I also told him that I would number the envelopes as well as the letters (as there are some envelopes that have 2 or 3 letters in them), but that he should not worry about reading them in order.  I wanted him to know up front that I would be writing to him every day - and I have been.  My husband (his Dad) also has added letters to the envelopes just as his little brother has.  I am hopeful that upon receipt of the letters, it will brighten his day immensely.

REGARDNG MAIL CALL....

diannep, I don't know if something has changed, but as I wrote here on Friday, Dec 14th - my son had to call us for info for security clearance that day & we got to speak to him for awhile - and he said they had their FIRST mail call a couple of days PRIOR to the 14th - and he only just arrived at BC the evening of Dec 6th.

He said lots of SR's didn't get any mail, while some did - and of course those that didn't, were upset. :(

We explained to him that we had been writing everyday, but had only just sent something out on the 13th, because we had been told they wouldn't receive it for 2-3 weeks, regardless, according to this message board - so he understands why now - but it still broke my heart to hear that from him.

So my advice to everyone, would be to start sending mail IMMEDIATELY when they leave for BC, so their SR's won't ever have to sit there watching others getting mail, while they get nothing. :(
