OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got our form letter today! Really thinking about booking now; from Hawaii the fares could increase several hundred dollars any time and the change fee would just have to be absorbed somehow. Want to encourage new members to edit their usernames to include their recruit's division. Aloha!

@wynona, I'm so happy you finally got your letter! :)

imomxfour!  Sure hoping that none get asmoed!  So pray for good health for all...no injuries...lots of academnic studying...and full compliance!  :-)

I have a feeling that when the SR was caught with the girl's phone number, they asked him if he showed anyone....and he mentioned my son.  Or....another SR could have seen it.  Just don't know....don't want to revisit that anymore!  It was NOT a good phone call when he called home to tell me!  Had my flights already....and they weren't on Southwest (didn't know about that then--no change fees)....so 2 change fees for me!  UGH!   Thanks for the compliment on my son....he keeps me on my toes....he is an "actor personality" and LOVES TO TALK...yadda yadda yadda!  My head spins sometimes.....  :-)

Wynona, so happy you got your letter; maybe I will get mine today too.  Our mail doesn't come until mid-late afternoon, but I've already checked it twice (silly me, it's still morning here).  You asked about area earlier; I am in Colorado so that's pretty far from Georgia!

Wynona, yay on getting the form letter!!!!

TJsMom, our kids are in brother divisions! Does your son go by TJ?

diannep, thank you for enlightening us on some of those details - like about getting asmoed (I couldn't remember what he called it, lol) Perhaps with the timing right now, maybe if any of our loved ones get asmoed, they will only be set back to Feb 8th, considering the lack of new TG's for awhile after that.

I'll also pass the info on about being *extra good*, even if it's having to tell on another shipmate. ugh. That's got to be tough for them!! How the heck did they know your son knew about the kid who got the girls ph. number? Your son is very handsome - and good to know about the "digi's" or NWU's!!  ;-)

Hi everyone, we just got the form letter yesterday and it looks like this is our group. So happy to be here as I have been reading a lot on this page already : ) I haven't gotten a phone call yet.  But that's okay, he will call when he is able,  Thank you all for all the information you provide on here. I can't wait for graduation (I am hopeful : )

I FINALLY got the form letter today. The address was right. So I am pretty sure he got my letters too.
But I didn't get the form for the military ID. what should I do?

Comment by diannep on December 15, 2012 at 11:36am

...by the way...my son got asmoed (setback)in his 3rd week of training (about 4th week of bootcamp) for not turning in a shipmate who had a female write down her number and give it to him.  He showed it to my son.  My son didn't report it...was asmoed for that.  They don't mess around with these SRs.  They are told to comply totally...and can be asmoed for the slightest errors....so keep encouraging your SRs to get with the program!  Not always an easy thing to do...but consequences of not doing it are not fun!

Comment by diannep on December 15, 2012 at 11:32am

A reminder:  For those who are using the recruiter's address to write...be sure to check this with the form letter address...sometimes they are different.  Form letter address is the correct one.  No worries....the other letters will find your SR!  They do their best to get them all to them.

Good Morning Everyone!  Have a good weekend!
