N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Here is Scarlettes repost. I know it is not the same but didn't want to delete completely.

Comment by Scarlette - SHIP12 DIV080 7 hours agoDelete Comment

I originally posted this on our Facebook page:

Just received a call (actually 2!) from my fiance (SHIP 12 DIV 80) for "security clearance" (of course, we used that phone call for much more meaningful conversation). I wanted to share what he told me about his division because I think it will help all of us rest our minds a little. Also, if anybody is related to  (not sure of the spelling), this may make your day - if not week:

They are all doing great and receiving mail. My fiance confided that he was sad he didn't receive my mail, but I assured him it should be there by tomorrow. He said him and some of his friends from his division talk about their loved ones meeting on Navyformoms and Facebook! They laugh and joke about it, and are extremely happy because it makes them feel closer to each other - like family. He told me that an SR received like 20 letters the other day or something and their RDC was like, "What the ****? Boy, you just stand right there. You got too much mail!" And everyone shared a big, hearty, laugh - no one got in trouble - including the SR ^_^

According to my fiance, they are getting along great, even with their RDC. Things get tough personally on the recruits, but nothing they can't handle.

C's Girl - It's "Training" Recruit Training Command :-)

That is good of you to send it the way he wrote it! they are very tired and it has been a whirklwind of P Days so boo-boo's happen.

You know what? The whole time my Hubby was in Iraq I was addressing his mail wrong somehow because he forgot to include something (at least I think it was him, could've been me!) he still got it though, it was a small thing.

Here is LaLa's Profile Page... http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/Lala .

When you get there...scroll down to her Photos. At the bottom right of the Photos box click "View All".

Click on the pages of pictures and you will find the Ribbons. They are all labled. I believe the SPECOPS like to use Black/Gold combos. :-)

Hey susan thanks! DIV 804 PIR FEB 1!!!! What about you?
Comment by Susan on December 19, 2012 at 5:24pm

C' girl, go to www.uniquememorymakers.com, I learned this from earlier posts. You can get a special ribbon for you to wear to PIR for your SR but I do not know if since they are going to seals if they would at his point get those colors or not until they complete that training. Anyone know the answer to this question. When is your PIR?

Comment by C's girl on December 19, 2012 at 5:07pm
Hey Susan what are you guys talking about ribbons for PIR? Mine is also going to seal training!
Comment by C's girl on December 19, 2012 at 4:56pm
I have a question? I got the from letter and the address, is his name ship/DIV then he wrote recruit traning command... Is that's right? Or did he mean to write recruit training command? Thanks! I have been sending it the way he wrote it but now I am thinking it's wrong ;( will my letters still get to him?
Comment by Susan on December 19, 2012 at 4:42pm

Lala, someone suggested I ask you about the ribbons  for PIR, if my SR is heading to SEAL training after BC do I get those colors or the same Navy blue as shown on the web page?
