MsBlue2U,
Your hotel is probably showing the Livestream of PIR on their premises. Give them a call to fnd out where. You can also bring a laptop and watch in your hotel room.
Sailors do not get Leave to go home before going to A school. They have to complete A school first.
If your SR has Great Lakes A school, you will have about 10-15 minutes to take pictures with your SR in the Graduation Hall when PIR ends at 10:30 am, then she will go to her barracks to change over to the A school side, which takes a few hours. You can go back to your hotel or get lunch at nearby places. Waukegan/Gurnee is where alot of hotels and places to eat are. Plan on being back at RTC about 3:00 pm ish to watch them march up to the gate. Then you will have sometime into the night with her and need to drop her off at a particular gate. On Saturday and Sunday, you will also be able to pick her up in the morning at the Visitor Center, then drive over to sign her out and spend all day with her both days.
Look up above this Comment Wall at the Weather Widget. It shows the temperature in Waukegan/Great Lakes and the predicted temperature for a few days too. The landscape and clouds show snow up there~~ This might not show on a cell phone for some reason. Get on a desktop or laptop computer and everythng will show~~ :)
MsBlue: The Chapel is on base, just past the NEX. However, not every PIR group is allowed to have extras there.....she may have been told that by her RDCs, but this PIR group has 13 divisions, which is a large group. In the last 13 division PIR group, the chapel was held for overflow from PIR Hall.....and no extras were allowed in, we were told. So ..... if your extras go to PIR, they need to have return transportation to the hotel (shuttle would work) if they are not allowed in.
Okay, I just took a look at the watch that Bombom posted and for one thing, I like the price. You are all spending a pretty penny to be at PIR, after all!. I noticed the watches on there have rubber straps and I believe that is a safety aspect because many of the Sailors are working in areas with big equipment and the less metal on them the better...
Bombom087,
Oh, you're welcome too~~
momma02,
You're welcome! I can't suggest a specific place, but the Gurnee Mall is about 15 minutes away and you could have your SR choose his watch himself--just let him know what is the budget he needs to stay within~~ Do you know yourself exactly what features he likes in a watch?
