I took all the advice from here (which is awesome ;) ) and canceled my reservations at the Navy Lodge and made new ones at the days in for the same rate. I don't want to take the chance of having any issues, I want to be able to enjoy all the time with my SR and not have to worry!!!!

Catmom509, thank you, that,'s my favorite Bible quote

RTRebecca:  We have not heard that those flying out had trouble at Navy Lodge.  The orders have been issued from A School Command as far as we know.

Is anyone aware of past problems staying at Navy Lodge if your new Sailor is NOT staying at Great Lakes for A school? Thanks!

Hello Friends!

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by

     prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,

let your requests be known to God; and the

peace of God, which surpasses all understanding

will guard your hearts and minds through

     Christ Jesus."

As My2kidz said below, this could happen....it may not necessarily.  But we feel we need to let each group know that it is a possibility.  By the way, the 12/12 group was NOT the first group that this happened to.  There have been others.  Many of you may want to take a chance and stay there anyway, and if you find your sailor can't visit you on PIR Day, you can change your reservations if you want.  It is up to you!

No reason was given. It is quite sad because the Navy Lodge is great. The staff here is great and it I'd wonderful being so close to base. It was especially vexing because the place was full of recruits:( But orders are orders and I think it is best to learn to be flexible early on. This shouldn't put people off staying at the Lodge. It is wonderful. Just be aware that if your Sailor is staying on at GL this could happen. We are just so happy now that nothing can bring us down :)So proud of my son and the other graduates.

This is the first post we had back in the 12/12/2014 group about the Navy Lodge situation.

Comment by My2kidz on December 12, 2014 at 11:35pm

Thanks FTLW and diannep. Today was wonderful and we couldn't be more excited except for one snag. The Sailors checking in to A school here in GL were expressly told they couldn't visit the Navy Lodge. No exceptions or chits. We are changing hotels as are many other families. No one knows why but I would warn future families whose sailors are staying in GL for A school to at least be aware of this happening.

Many of them just put mom, dad, brother, etc.....on the first list---- but then when they do the final list about a week before PIR, they put the actual names.  It will help if the name matches the one on the ID used to get in for PIR....so if your name is a nickname, etc....you may want to write the name as it is on your ID to your SR so that they can put it right on the final list.

Hello All Ethan's Mom, I told my son when I spoke with him Saturday that he did not list our Names just Mom, Dad and asked him if this would pose as a problem he said it wouldn't but he could make changes. I thought that was pretty funny when I saw that , but I was just as concerned as you that is why I mentioned it to him. Any other Parents had any issues with this at PIR and getting in ?
