While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Connie (Ship03 Div 070) on January 29, 2012 at 6:19pm: The questionnaire I sent my SR asked what he was most looking forward to after boot camp. The answer was sleeping with real bedding, "wool sucks." I have not made a quilt in 6 years but decided I would make him one. I found a soft flannel blue print for the back and am making black squares with the nuke symbol in shades of blue, red, and gold or yellow. I picked up a new sewing machine and am in love with it. I wish I would have thought of it earlier, it sure would have helped pass the time.

Comment by foreverandalways3511 on January 29, 2012 at 6:05pm: Proudmom2011 - My boyfriend is on Ship 12 Div 074. We got a letter on Thursday saying that they were going to get a call on Saturday, waited all day for it and it never came. :( Did your SR say they were supposed to get a call too?

When my hubby deployed to Iraq ( I know it's a bit different situation) they were only allowed to wear their uniforms or PT gear...no civies at all on base.

Comment by diannep on January 28, 2012 at 11:22pm: No, proudmom. The only mailing is the form letter right after they arrive. The SRs are allowed to change/update the list of the 4 guests a couple of weeks before PIR...but you won't be mailed anything else.
