Hi Everyone... My daughter opened up a bank account in basic and I have been getting info regarding her account, however, I have not seen a debit card.  Does anyone know how/when she will get that?  Are they sent to them in basic?  I am concerned that I haven't gotten one at home.  I thought I would be taking it to her at PIR the end of the month.

For those sailors moving over to A School in GL, that will happen shortly after PIR is over.  You pick them up later over on that base (takes a few hours to move).

hearthaven:  You go outside on the base and your sailors have to return to their ships and sign out.  You pick a spot on base to meet back up with your sailor....then all are free to leave the base.  For those who want to visit a NEX, we suggest that you visit the one on Greenbay Rd, close to the base, that is larger and won't be so crowded.  The NEX at RTC is pretty crowded.  Your sailor must be with you.

For those staying at Navy Lodge, you will get a pass to visit a smaller NEX close by without having your sailor with you.

Lisa,

It was easy for us to find our Sailor daughter!  We wrote her or told her on her "I'm a Sailor" call to stay put in her place after PIR and we wouldhead to where she was.  Since we could see her division and where she was from the stands, this was better than her moving around and us trying to find her in all huge crowd of Sailors and loved ones!

She gave us her flight information during the time she was at liberty with us.  We already knew she was flying out of Midway to Pensacola from her "I'm a Sailor" call, but did not have the flight details until we saw her~~

diannep:  So where does everyone go after that 10 minutes?

Comment by diannep on February 4, 2015 at 11:43am

Once Liberty is called, you only have about 10 minutes or so before they will announce to clear the Hall....So get your hugs, get your piks, and then it will be time to get out~

Lisa:  I'll pick up your questions since CatMom may not be on here for a few more hours....

Although there is a mass of sailors at Liberty Call, it usually is not hard to find your own!  They will be in divisions, which makes it easier, and will be pretty much right in front of you (their division).

We thought we would be clever and stayed in the bleachers as the masses almost trampled us to get to their sailors!  Figured our sailor would see us....NOT!  We finally went looking for him and he was busy talking to other sailors there in his division section!  HA!  So no worries....you will find each other.

And, yes, they will know their flight info by PIR Day.  We suggest that you send an index card to your SR beforehand....on it, put the following:

Airport:

Date of Departure:

Time of Departure:

After PIR, your sailor can hand it to you so you will have the info right there.

CatMom509:  I do have a question or two...How difficult is it on graduation day to find your sailor and also, will they give us their outgoing flight information on the 27th in order for us to know how to find them at the airport or how does that whole process work?

I'm still here as well!  Read comments everyday as I get updates on my phone.  I have been trying to stay busy by going to the gym after work everyday.  By the time I get home in the evening I am beat!  I received letter #2 this week which was great but I really missed talking to my daughter as I had been able to the prior two Sundays.

I am counting down the days and getting so excited to see her again.  I miss her so much.
