OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jersey Sam,

So glad you and your family are well now~~  Super exciting that you will be seeing your daughter next week and for such a long time.  Do you have things to do planned a little or just whatever your daughter wants to do?

Oh my, no air conditioning in Japan?  I thought that place was with it!  Can she have a portable fan?  Those tall narrow ones that look more streamlined and deliver more air flow up and down?

I think your question on the gold watch would be best answered by a veteran mom back at the Boot Camp group.  I'm sure lemonelephant would know.  I think I saw that gold was reserved for officers, maybe only silver and black allowed?

Ladies,

I already got the PIR dvd today and I'm in California.  Hoping when I watch it tomorrow that I will receive a call from my daughter!!

Heard from my daughter that there are a couple of sailors leaving for Japan too but to different city in Japan. But she has 1 sailor that is going to the same base with her. There will be no air condition in all the rooms. Remember that. Buy satin bed sheet to cool at nite. 1 thing to bear in mind. The bed size might not be the same in USA. My girl is going to check it out & I will post it up for everyone.

Thanks to all of you. I was not able to reply cos my 7yrs old son was sick for 9 days due to stomach virus infection. Vomitting, diarrhea & fever. When he recovered, I got it for 1 week. Terrible feeling. My daughter had it for 3 days in A school too. Then her classmate caught it for 2 days. Hope everyone is healthy enough to avoid it. Well, my daughter is coming back on 4/30. Back for 20 days & then to Japan for 3 long yrs. I have a question that I didn't get a respond. Read that she wasn't allow to wear a gold watch. I bought her a gold watch with white strap as a go away & birthday gift. Is it true she's not allowed? Another question is that I was told that her life insurance will discontinue once she leave the NAVY. Its only valid if she stays with the NAVY. Is that true too. I thought once u buy any insurance, the policy will stay with u as long as u paid for the premium.
