~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello to all! I got my letter and she is Ship 14 DIV 105 GRAD 3/8!!!!
I just wanted to sit and hug the letter lol
teachermom - Right now just go with what you have on your Form Letter.
IF this TG is indeed 13 Divisions or over that we will find out in plenty of time for you all to write your Recruits of any changes that need to be made to the Access List.
The Recruits turn in their final Access List about 7-10 days before PIR.
BROTHER DIVISIONS (so far) - 105 and 106
107 and 108
916 and 917
Hmmmm....I am going to delete my earlier post on 13 Divisions. Just not sure and will wait for RTC.
I can usually "guess" based on how fast the group grows after I form it...and growth has slowed a bit already...plus like I said I am only seeing 105-18 08, 916 and 917 so far.
Congrats to all the Moms who have gotten their letters. It is a definite relief when it comes. Just a few questions- my letter has four guests- will that be revised? - my SR is in div 108 what will be the brother div?- As far as hotels in the area which ones are closest to Sarge's meet and greet?- and finally how far in advance should I start to make my flight reservations? I know tahts a lot but asking while I'm thinking about it or I can be sure to forget. You know it's that old timers diseaselol
Okay, I am seeing that KylesMom's Form Letter says 3 Guests...does anyone else with a Form Letter have that on it?
I put out that we would have at least 13 Divisions based on this but I have only seen Divisions 105-108 916 and 917 report in so far...so I am wondering now.
Let me know so I can retract on the possible number of Divisions.
Hopefully, RTC will post the details of this TG next week. Won't be until after Tuesday though because of MLK day.
To add to Lala's post about flights and hotels:
The hotels we get the most positive feedback on have been:
Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Navy Lodge
Navy Lodge is the most affordable, closest to RTC and several of our N4Moms veterans stayed there---good experiences! And you get a guest pass to shop in one of the smaller NEXs without your sailor being with you! N4Moms veteran Betsy and also I stayed at Residence Inn. Very good too...pricier but good for larger groups since they have the 2 bdrm 2 bth units in addition to the studios.
This is not to say that there aren't other good hotels...there are...but these are the ones we hear the most positive about. Springhill, Courtyard, Residence are all close together....4-5 miles from RTC. They all have the PIR shuttle service and are close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR, which is the one that will have the most info for you. Be sure to ask for the Navy Graduation rate...and check rates online as well. We used our AAA discount when there so check other discounts available to you.
On the flights, I agree with Lala. Southwest is great--no change fee in case your SR's PIR date changes (my son's did)---2 bags check for free..they fly to Milwaukee or Chicago-Midway. Milwaukee is usually cheaper, less traffic, cheaper car rental, 45 minutes to GL. Midway is an hour or more away, more traffic, but will be one of the airports your sailors will fly from if you are planning to visit with your sailor that day (usually the day after PIR).
We do recommend that you rent a car if you can. Seems to be the most economical way to travel to/from the airports and with your sailors. But for those who don't want to rent, Sarge has a wonderful transportation service and treats the Navy families royally! Gives discounted rates too...his service is to/from the airports, to/from PIR, and around town as needed. Here is his number if you would like to text or call him:
847 212 0246
Stephanie: You are correct that in the past, people would add their "extras" to another sailor's guest list. But RTC has said that is not allowed anymore. They have tightened the restrictions on number of guests allowed at PIR...and even reduced the age of the children that didn't need to be on the guest list (it was 12 yrs and under didn't need to be on the list, but now it is 2 yrs and under). They no longer allow "extras" in if there is room like they did before--they send them back to their cars. We aren't sure why, but wonder if it had something to do with "fire regulations" inside the PIR Hall. That place could get pretty packed!
kylesmom: The letter should actually say 2 yrs and under do not have to be on the guest list; 3 yrs and older do. Here is the info on the RTC page:
Happy Happy Happy.... I received form letter and a hand written one. My son is ship 14 div 105. He said everything is going great.
Guys...do not get discouraged....My SR is DIV 917, and I just got my letter today, and we only live 45 minutes from Great Lakes...my letter is postmarked Jan 16th...so mail will take a while
