N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks Catmom-so look forward to your posts-and I am so glad we found out about that personal property info!

It has been wonderful being able to talk with my Sailor-and hope you get tons of calls from yours!

Sounds like the adjustment is going well-already told me I can come visit :)

Friends,

           "So do not fear, for I am with you;

Do not be dismayed, for I am Your God.

             I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Hello All,

One of our Navy Dads, posted this info.  Please re-post to any groups you are a part of.  We need to help our Sailors (and their families) save money!!

I'm sure each base has their own Personal Property office.

Personal Property Information for those in Pensacola/Corry Station.

I wanted to give you all a heads up that your Sailors are authorized personal property shipments when they leave A School headed to their first duty station. My son said no one knew about it and for some reason the schools do not tell the students about this and my son said his friends were all paying out of pocket to ship stuff home.

Once they have hard copy orders they need to visit the personal property office and they will be given instructions on how to ship their goods at the Navy's expense. Sailors should not be paying to move themselves. I got the information for my son and he went and did it and found it an easy process.

Personal Property Office - Corry Station

Friends,

             He has become my salvation.

He is my God, and I will praise Him,

My father's God, and I will exalt Him."

Catmom-glad you got an address for your Sailor!

Ellen-That is great!  Last time I talked to my Sailor he explained some of the progression to me so its nice to have some reference info.

:-) Ellens son  will be a PO3 (Petty Officer Third class;E-4) in August.

CONGRATS to him!

Ask your Sailor about the correct rate for his/her address.

E-1 SR - Seaman Recruit

E-2 SA - Seaman Apprentice

E-3 SN - Seaman

See these links for some additional info on Rates (Enlisted Navy have rate not rank. Rank is for Officers) and also Ratings if you like:

Here are some links to see the rest of the Group Rate Marks and insignias and to look into the structure: (This can be a little mind boggling...not for the faint hearted LOL! )

FYI,

My daugher wrote to her sister and she referred to herself on the return address as SA Last Name, First Name.

I looked up the Ranks and Recognition page of the START Guide that Daina received when she joined, and it says, E-1 is Seaman Recruit, E-2 is Seaman Apprentice, and E-3 is Seaman (S?)
