~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Friends,

"Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence,

Catmom-that is great she got them already!  He hasn't asked for anything yet. He called last night and said he got all his shower stuff (and aftershave) at the NEX for under $15!

Thanks Ellen-he is an AA!  :)  And loving every minute of it!

Awww, Kelso12, sorry you couldn't pick out your Sailor daughter!  I guess one of the advantages to being petite is that the Navy puts you up front in the divisions.  They don't have to do that anymore, huh?  They are back to being individuals, I guess.  Hoping our daughters are making friends with an eye toward going out on liberty with trustworthy people and forming serious study groups!

Spomss,

I asked the same question about proper address of our Sailors at  Pensacola and 2 moms said they just put their Sailors first and last name now, no need for designation in the front.  We just sent 3 boxes of goodies to my daughter with just her first and last name (and the address, of course) and she received them no problem!!  Priority Mail from California to Pensacola only took 2 days!!  I put her cell number on each of the labels so the mailroom could call Daina to let her know she had stuff~~

CatMom509, unfortunately I couldn't see my daughter in any of the photos. I did see your daughter though, how wonderful for you!!

spomss, You will have to ask how to address him on his letters, it will depend on job and rate, he could still be SR or maybe now a FR, AR, SA, FA, AA, SN etc. :)

My son has been SR after PIR SA, now SN, and in August will be PO3. It has only been a year since BC, and it is hard to keep up and know sometimes.

kandilee, his BEQ may actually be a BLDG if he is on hold in the COLE there in GL.

Comment by spomss on March 15, 2013 at 7:50pm

yippee!  so the next question is how to write his name???  with the appropriate letters since he is no longer a SR!!!

happy 1 week PIR-anniversary...

Comment by ellen0502 on March 15, 2013 at 7:09pm

kandilee, Did he give you a BEQ and room number? You will need that then the address is

BEQ ***  Room ****

320A Dewey Ave

Great Lakes, IL 60088

So not waiting for A school at Great Lakes-he should be at THU (temp holding unit).   See if you can find contact for Great Lakes TSC

Comment by spomss on March 15, 2013 at 11:23am

kandilee I started looking for you-lots of posts about sending packages but no info on how to address them.  Is he on hold for A school at Great Lakes?
