OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The address on the bootcamp link tell families to GPS the illinois address. There were cars at the illinois gate and the local police informed people to go to Ohio street (people who were waiting since 6:00am were now in the back of the line). Ohio is the next light. My advice is follow the sign that reads Navy Recruit Command which is Ohio Street. The address given on the site can be misleading for people who drive to the PIR.

Mrsharg:  Hope you are there now and found your sailor!  Not sure what shuttle you were taking, but if it was Sarge, he usually knows where to go.

Good Morning!

HELP! We are going to the Midway at 2am to meet our Sailor but have no idea where to have the shuttle take us, can anyone help me.

I would pass on to future PIR people that if your SR will fly out on amer airline which is in term 3 at O'hare they might still be dropped off at term 2 and will walk to term 3 that happened today.
Also if you will meet your SR at the airport you might to bring something (colorful) to tie to the sea bag handle so when they arrive at where they fly into they will not have to wade through many many sea bags, as they all look a like.

Sarge warned us about the USO guy at Midway and boy was he right! Some of us arrived before 1:00 am right before the sailors. There were about 300 sailors so he did do a good job organizing them. However, he kept them for we'll over an hour, with families waiting. Some sailors and families had early flights and wanted some last moments together. This man held them up with foolishness like asking how old they all were and talking about his own background. Sarge said that he cuts him off--boy I wish he were there this morning. I understand this man is a volunteer which is admirable, but it's not about him, he takes time away from sailors and families which is wrong.

Ok, really weird, why is my pic showing up as FTLW? Or is it just on my screen? It did same thing in another group I posted....weird
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on March 9, 2013 at 7:50pm

Don't know where it was mentioned that you get gate passes at the USO...but yes that is incorrect.

If you are there at the AP when your Sailor is getting their boarding pass then yes, you get it there with them like NavyMom said.

BUT, if they arrive earlier than you do and get their boarding pass and proceed through security to the terminal waiting area OR USO (say they have a later flight and you don't want to get there at zero dark thirty, so you meet them later) , then they will have to come out and meet you at the ticket counter to get your gate pass.

Bottom line is that your Sailor has to be with you and you get it at the ticket counter.

We'll make sure that is very clear to the PIR Groups. Thanks NavyMom!
