Have added links (up above with the smileys holding the acronym signs under the CD Clock) for:
RTC Website...LOTS of good info from Recruit Training Command...this site is designed for the Recruits, Families and Staff of RTC. Take a trip over there an familiarize yourself!
The two Meet and Greets.
Ramadas
Sarge's
Here is a little rundown on both:
Sarge:
5-10 pm at the Sundance Saloon.
FREE transportation from Springhill Suites, Marriot Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Candlewood Suites and Crossland. All other local hotels for a modest fee.
Guest Speaker from the Base to provide info on where to eat, things to do, how to save $$.
FREE food starting at 7 PM….they also have a menu if you want to order something.
Sarge has lived in the area for over 30 years and knows it well.
Sarge has arranged with his friend Nick at Trattoria-Pomigliano in Libertyville for a FREE meal – ANYTHING they want – for your Sailor.
There is a DJ.
Plus, Sarge goes above and beyond the “call of duty” to help Sailors and their families. (He is the “go to” guy for Taxi (shuttle) service. Prices are great and again does more than he has too!)
Ramada:
6-8 pm at the Ramada.
Finger foods – Chips and salsa, veggies and dip, egg rolls, meatballs, maybe another and it could change. (This is what they had when I went. Sarge was not doing a Meet and Greet then)
Bar – or you can bring in your own soft drink or water. Those staying at the Ramada get a voucher for to free drinks.
Hostess provides a name tag and will come in and greet everyone and ask if anyone would like to speak.
The Meet and Greets are for loved ones of the Sailors to have a chance to meet each other. BOTH events are open to everyone...both are done as a courtesy to you! There will be people there that know nothing about N4M’s. Invite them!
Thanks! LOL Makes sense now!
Well....sjtina..I "jumped the gun" (what the heck does that mean anyways...will have to google) Just had a report with a form letter confirmation that the next 800 Div...Div 807 has PIR 03/16. So I will try to get that group going ASAP. Sorry about that.
RTC is messing with me...LOL...like this trying to keep up with them ....just kidding...love 'em.
My son left the 12th. I assume his PIR day will be the following week. I would like to stay on here until i know. I appreciate you all and all your helpful information.
Good afternoon, and welcome to N4Ms. My son graduated from Bootcamp 10/18/10 with a SEAL contract. For those of you with a loved one in a 800 division (SpecOps) I am here to help answer any of your questions or concerns. There will a discussion above for SEAL/SWCC candidates.
As FTLW and jessica have said, we promise it will get easier..
The "Sleep Tight" photo for our Group is one my son had as his screensaver for about 3 months prior to leaving for RTC. It's kind of my little tribute to him and how Proud I am! I also hoped it would help us all remember why we are going through this now. And maybe even help us sleep at night :-)
There is a ship, a submarine and a Navy fighter jet all in the one photo, although it isn't easy to make them all out, especially at this size.
Welcome ehuds and Justin's Mom!! The veterans on this site are incredible resources! It helps to know there are are others out there going through the same things, as well as others that have SURVIVED this journey :)
Jessica...no disrespectin'! but I think they want the first name rather than just the initial.
I'm excited this has formed, and I'll tell my daughter-in-law so she can join in. I have no news except that I'm grateful for all the support from all of you. It's nice to just read what you know and are willing to share. We are planning on driving up and joining all of you for the PIR. And we hope to bring you the sun and warmth we've been experiencing down here, lol.
