Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on March 6, 2012 at 9:18am: TABBY: My son was also asmoed for a week when he was at bootcamp. It turned out to be a good thing for him...when they are setback for any reason, they come back into the next division fighting hard and more determined than ever to get through. None like to be setback...messes with their heads! :-) So thinking that all will be good and you will never be more proud of your son than you will be on PIR day watching him march with his division! The Navy is a great "growing up" time for all of the SRs/sailors.

Based on your description, however, this is a memory that will stay with your son. Sometimes the harder lessons have the most profound impact. Your own wisdom and sense of humor will be an anchor. 3/16 will welcome you, too.

Comment by diannep on March 6, 2012 at 8:49am: Watch for those calls from your new sailors from 083/084/8/917 (we think!) possibly starting as early as 2 pm GL time today. They should be getting "capped" soon (trading that RECRUIT cap for the NAVY cap). A very emotional ceremony for them!

I really hope this is all a big misunderstanding.... something doesnt sound right.... if its a hearing issue, they shouldve caught that a long time ago @ MEPS...and how could he have gone thu 7 weeks of bootcamp and they JUST NOW wanna hold him back. Sounds strange... u are in my prayers.. i hope it all gets straightened out real soon.
