Hi HannahKathryn, Very good, yes he is a Nuke, and very proud of it.  PJ got designated MM which is only a 3 month school and we are hoping he gets leave, and his PO3, around his birthday in June.  I hear that EM and IT A school is 6 mos long and I don't know when they get leave.  My son was in Div. 83 so they may have met.  Sorry about the medical hold, I know that my PJ didn't want to spend one minute more than he had to in GL.  I felt the same way in 1969.  I now know the rooms at GC are nice ....the beds are softer than GL, and PJ's room mate will be leaving soon as he finishes up his school.  Since he has a cell phone now I will be getting more news.   Good luck to you.

NotDaMama & HannahKathryn....my older son recently graduated from Goose Creek.  He is an ET....your sons(bfs) are in for a very intense adventure.  The Nuke program is one of the toughest around!!!  They have lots of mandatory study hours in the school....they can not bring any homework or study materials home with them it must all be done at school.  Be understanding and supportive of their hours.  Get down to Charleston, it is an amazing city!!

Not Da Mama: From the FN and Goose Creek, I take it your son is a Nuke? So is my boyfriend. He is on hold up a GL right now waiting for them to finish his medical records. He will get sent down as soon as he gets it. Is your son an MM or EM? My boyfriend is an EM. They might know each other.

Hey everyone, I finally joined N4M to say THANK YOU.  You all really helped me on this journey and I sincerely enjoyed meeting you after reading your posts for 2 months.  The colored scarves were the best idea.  Sarges meet and greet, PIR, even chatting at the airport where we drank coffee, watched the sun come up and spent 12 hours waiting for our planes.  Meeting other graduates and their families.  I had the best weekend of my life and you all helped make it possible.  My new FN is safely at Goose Creek in his new room, and we text constantly.  We designated Sunday as our day to communicate.  Sarge turned out ot be a SAINT...what he ended up doing for me Friday night went way above and beyond and I will acknowledge that in the other forums.  Thanks again, I'll never forget you.  The journey continues......Go Navy !!!!!

Hello all. Graduation was wonderful. I did come to Sarge's meet and greet, but we were late and I didn't get to say hello to Amy (even though I saw her). jenny - my son is in San Antonio as well. Is there a webpage or anything for moms with sailors in SA? Does anyone know when they will find out where they go after that?

yep, jenny:  Some say that the goodbye after PIR is harder than the first one...but seeing your sailors, getting hugs, catching up...ahhhh...how sweet, right?  And you are so right...just having communication back in place makes such a difference now.  So enjoy!  And congrats!

Comment by jennyemt713 on March 11, 2012 at 7:51pm

Thanks everyone! We really enjoyed PIR. It was great to see my daughter and all the changes in her! Although, I have to say - I found it just as hard the next day to say goodbye again for her to leave for San Antonio (cried my eyes out - again). Although, now I get to talk, text and skype with her - so that makes it nice. I have been on and off the phone with her today already...lol. I cannot wait to go down to San Antonio for a visit! It is just a bummer that she is so far away now though, but she already LOVES it there!
