...ok, ladies. 24 hours from now, most of you will be either sitting in the PIR hall or arriving at RTC. Goosebumps! You are almost there! Can't wait for that "big door roll up" moment for you.
HINT: Sometimes the new sailors use the restrooms in PIR before the ceremony. Soooo....if someone can save your seat....you may want to kind of "hang out" in that area???? :-) Possible sneak peek of your sharp-looking new sailor!
Enjoy! Safe travel to all leaving today. Enjoy the MeetNGreets tonight!
We will be leaving Dallas TX at noon today. Looking forward to meeting some of you who have made this "journey" considerably easier and more pleasant for me and have helped ease some of those bumpy roads.
Don't forget the time changes this weekend. If you are staying until Sunday you don't want to miss your flight because you forgot about the time change :-)
I was just watching the news here in NC and for you guys who are going to be in Great Lakes tomorrow night you could be in for a real treat :-) There is some kind of solar event going on with the sun that is supposed to make it possible to see the Northern Lights tomorrow night. So keep your eyes towards the sky, unless your driving lol. I have always wanted to see this event and I really wish I was going to be there. Take pics and come back and share them with us please :-)
Thank you zStratmom. We will not have conflict luckily with the people I will be with. We have Grandpa who is already there coming from Georgia and then my brother, husband and myself. They are all very easy going and my family has always been one to do what you what no big deal and feeling don't get hurt. I did however already make it very clear this is all about my Sailor. If he wants to come back to our hotel and sleep then that is what we are going to do. We will do what he wants. Yesterday when we spoke though he said he wanted pizza. I asked him about having it yesterday at Rickys Heaven and he said that is something that is up to the RDCs and his division was not given permission to do that. Maybe things changed. I do know that on the way to getting in line I want to stop at a donut shop and get a maple bar or two to keep in the car for him. Those are his favorite. He does love pasta and I am not one much for pizza so I was already hoping to find a place I could order pesto or something. Whatever, it is his day. If he wants a hot dog that is what we will get.
Funny thing, we are giving blondi the ride from the airport to town and it turns out we have already met. Our boys were on delay together so they know each other, and then we sat in a room at MEPS together the day they left. We talked for a good three hours. She lives in the next city over from us. When we talked to arrange meeting at the airport we figured all this out. She can even ride to PIR with us if she would like. She will have to take the shuttle back because with my son our car will then be full, but what a small world. We are even staying at the same hotel so we will be coming to the Meet and Greet together. I guess you could say she is going to become part of the family even outside of the Navy family connection.
Thank you for the advice, zStratMom! Thank you, Lala!! I will be at the Meet and Greets tomorrow night!!!
For most of you, this is a travel day, AND you may be going to Meet & Greets Thursday (I hope so!!). Make those face to face connections, have fun, bond with your N4M friends . . . but get to bed! You want to be at RTC early, early, early Friday!!!!! Tomorrow will feel like one of those "BEST. DAY. EVER!" type days. Here's a couple of thoughts for you . . .
--Be "present" in the moment. When you're with your Sailor, let everything else fall away for the day.
--They probably will NOT want pizza! They had some serious gorging on pizza one or more nights this week.(he he he he)
--There are nearby places which will "treat" your Sailor to a meal. (SARGE is a good resource; we went to a small Italian place in Libertyville--very close).
--THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, even if it only applies to a couple of you: If your family is one where some attendees have conflict with each other, call a truce for the day! Be the generous soul who is kind and gracious. This is your SAILOR's day. Let it be memorable for all the right reasons!
--Finally, make memories, take pictures, and get your HUGS in.
I'm so excited for you, and it has been a pleasure to share this journey. HOO-YAH! (and OOO-RAH!)
Travel safely everyone and have a wonderful time with your new Sailors :-) We will all be thinking of you!!!
Good night all....safe travels tomorrow....
Note: both times I arrived at about 6:30 am.
