Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I feel like I have come to the party late and quickly trying to come up to speed on how all this works. Learning a lot in a short amount of time:) I would love to know when my son will do battle stations if that is possible to find out. He is ship 13 division 140. Can someone assist me? I really don't want to miss his call. I live in Oregon and I am so excited to see him soon!! Thank you...Newbie Navy mom:)

Comment by diannep on March 29, 2013 at 11:15am: abraxtona: Hmmm.....hope you get another call soon. It is possible that he didn't pass his final PFA....YET! Consider the "yet". If they have not passed by the time their division is going into BattleStations, they usually call to tell you. But try not to worry. He should have gotten another chance this morning, and will get more tries on Mon and Wed next week, which will still enable him to be at PIR if if passes by Wed. Not sure this is what he was calling about, but if he called last night and his division was in BattleStations, that is a bit strange.

Prayers for him that he will get it done! So many do! Worst that can happen in that case is that he will stay in FIT (which is where he would be now) until he passes....as long as he is improving....and once he does pass, he does BattleStations with another group and heads straight to A School.

Please post when you hear from him again! Prayers in the meantime that all is ok!
