N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Our SRs will wear dress blues. I believe they don't switch to white until first of May.

So it looks like we are the first April PIR so did I read correctly that our SRs will be wearing dress whites? Also, what are honor graduates?

Good Morning All!

You need to click on one of the coins to bring up the page where the Challenge Coin video is displayed.  Also, if you purchase one of these coins, you will be able to participate in the March $8 Special to order 3 more coins at $8 each (70 designs to choose from).  This special expires March 31st  I found a nice "I Love My Sailor" coin, an IT coin, and a sharp Core Values coin!

For anyone looking for a nice gift for their new Sailor, www.pirgifts.com has Challenge Coins for each ship at RTC.  It is a nice connection to their Boot Camp days.  Order now so you can get it in time to give to them at PIR.  I think there is a link on the site explaining what the Challenge Coins are for.

BlakesMom,

Your SR won't know his flight plans or which airport he is leaving out of until after he has passed Battlestations and is a Sailor, so when he calls, ask him to carefully tell you when his bus is leaving RTC and also WHEN HIS ACTUAL FLIGHT LEAVES.  They are 2 different times.  My daughter talked so fast I couldn't understand her so we didn't find out her flight time until we were with her after PIR.  In her case, all the new Sailors boarded the buses to Midway at 12:00 am Saturday morning, then they left at 12:30 am (0 dark thirty).  They arrived at Midway about 1:30 am--it is a good solid hour driving there. We left ourselves separately to go to the airport at midnight.  Her flight on Delta leaving for Pensacola was at 11:15 am, so we spent a good 10 hours with her.  The Terminal parking was $5/hour, but there was an offsite Red Lot for $14.00 all day with a free shuttle to the airport.  Most everyone will probably be bringing their Sailors' cell phones, cell phone chargers, laptops, ac adapters for laptops, their own confortable underwear and any other limited comfy clothes they want to wear in their A school barracks until they are allowed to wear civies in public after 2 weeks.  You will give them all these items at the airport.  Don't forget to bring id for everyone, even kids (student ids with photos) so that you can get Gate Passes to see your Sailor off at the gate.
