N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just got off the phone with my SR!  What a treat to be able to share some laughs with him... I wish I would have taken notes.

BaileysMom:  Be careful!  UGH!  I hope that the weather settles soon.

I had the same thing with the zip codes on his letters when my son was there---some were different. Having said that, the letters will get there....Here is the correct zip code for Ship 3:

Ship 3

xocinxo,

I want to help you, but not sure what kind of info you are asking about.  If you are talking about last names and pics or your SR (and I know you are his sister), then we just don't want anyone (especially the Recruit Division Commanders -- RDCs-- figuring out which SR belongs to which family member because some people like to share personal stuff and the RDCs can use that to play with an SR (just get him/her wondering how they find stuff out about them), so best to be safe.

BaileysMom,

Prayers for protection for your community and your home from these dangerous weather phenomenons!!

Baileysmom it sounds like mail for them will go out this Sunday. I have an sr who went in on the 21st and they haven't had mail yet. Remember no news really is good news.

May I ask why it jeopardize our sailor by putting such info? I'm a very private person but curious.

Comment by diannep on May 8, 2015 at 5:01pm

MsVee:  These are made by Lala Ribbon Queen, a N4Moms veteran.  You can go to her page (under MEMBERS tab above) and see piks of it.  The ribbons just honor your new sailor and unite you with other families with sailors in your division.  Not all get them or make them....it is up to you!

memeGaronsMom - I am so glad you asked that - I was about to also since my SR put Mom, Dad, Grandpa W and Grandma W. . Our names would be helpful lol.  Hopefully they let them know to put out legal names on there
