OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Twin 2 is proving to be very different than his twin.  Twin 1 wrote offten and regular and in much neater handwriting.  Twin 2 seems willing to just earn phone calls and not write.  Only one letter so far and when I talked to him yesterday he said that is the only one he has written.

Happy Friday. Not sure why that last message cut off but my SR said he probably wouldn't be calling for awhile. Their training was about to get intense. His words. I just went on YouTube and watched some US Navy training videos. It's good to know what our kids/loved ones will go through but it scares the bejeezies out of me. My admiration and respect for them just grew tenfold.

Thanks for the info imomxfour.  He was hoping to be right at 14 weeks and get to come home in time to watch one last baseball game.  He's sad he is missing most of the season.  Oh well, at least once he gets to A school he'll be able to keep up with it there!

No letters for me yet.  :(  He sent one to his grandmother, she got hers yesterday.  I had a little pity party for myself that I didn't get one.  Went to J's room, laid on his bed and cried.  Our younget kitty climbed up there and snuggled.  Guess he misses J too.   But I'll keep writing.  I send him something every single day, including all the latest baseball standings!!  Hopefully he enjoys them.

Thanks for the support ya'll.  It's great to have a group of chickies going through the same thing!!
